The Amish Home — Local services in Frazer Township

My wife and I searched for ages for a good bedroom set and a good server for our dining room. Everything we liked from more traditional furniture stores was either too expensive, out of stock, ordered and then became out of stock before we could get it, or nearly what we wanted but with no ability to customize.

The Amish Home is THE place to go in Pittsburgh for high quality customized wooden furniture, and the reason for the 5 stars is the attention to detail Matt & his crew pay to every single order. He works with a plethora of Amish furniture builders who take a lot of pride in their work, and it shows.

For us we ordered a bedroom set, where we swapped in the king bed with a different model than what was in the set. This required merging two different builders into a single order and making sure they were all finished in the same way. It took a bit longer, but it worked!

Then disaster struck. The bed frame squeaked. I thought I had spent a ton of money on something that I would never be happy with. A small squeak in the middle of the night when one person is already sleeping might as well be a thunderclap! No matter, I called Matt up and he had a maintenance technician come out and show me what was wrong, fixed it, and how to fix it myself if it were to ever cause an issue again. The bed no longer squeaks... Oh, free of charge, of course!

We then ordered a server from them as well, and you can see the pictures. My wife is overjoyed with it as it finally completes our dining room. We spent a long time talking with Matt about customizing the server, but then decided to order a more traditional model, but the point here is he was very patient with us as we talked with him over the course of months about it. There are NO high pressure sales tactics at The Amish Home.

I found this place when we were building a home and looking for some new bedroom furniture and some end tables for the living room. We're so happy we went with The Amish Home store! Matt and everyone else there were absolutely awesome to talk to and do business with!! As soon as you start talking to them, you'd swear you've known them your entire life! Great people! It's been a few months since we've taken delivery and I wanted to give everything a "test ride" before I did my review. Yep! Absolutely beautiful, very well built furniture! The finish on everything is superb! The bedroom dresser has a good safety interlock on the drawers so that kids, if you got 'em, can't pull every drawer open and climb up the drawers and have the dresser fall over on them! The sleigh bed is absolutely beautiful! The craftsmanship on it will make you just stand there looking at it, all the while shaking your head! Such meticulous work and made with pride! This entire home from the excavation to the roof was Amish built. EVERYTHING they put their hands on was done with so much pride! What a great experience it has been with everyone!!! The Amish Home store is where I will always buy anything else that I may need! Not only for the quality of the furniture, but for the quality of the staff as well running the store!! My wife and I had been looking for an island for our kitchen for a very long time. We visited a number of stores, but found nothing. Our daughter-in-law mentioned The Amish Home and we could not be happier. The selection is wonderful and our salesman Matt is the best we have ever worked with. No pressure and he was extremely helpful in helping us put together the island we wanted. Very helpful when it came to design and recommendations as to wood, color, etc.. The craftsmanship is excellent.

P.S. to husbands - when you are finalizing the paperwork, DO NOT let go of your wife's hand. I made that mistake and now we are planning our next visit and purchase. My wife roamed the store and all I kept hearing was look at this, look at this. She even called them to ask if they could make a piece of furniture if she took pictures of what she was looking for. Of course, Matt said yes! We would highly recommend The Amish Home!
