McCutcheon's Apple Products — Local services in Frederick

Awesome selection available - stuff I did not even know McCutcheon made. They even had 4-oz jars of fruit preserves & butters, which are perfect for an "empty nest" household like ours. We would have loved to try the banana preserves, but that one they did NOT have in the 4-oz size. When we buy 8-oz jars of jelly, jam or preserves (of ANY brand) they tend to turn nasty before we finish them, so 8 ounces is just too much. If you are a fan of Todd's seasonings (we are - especially the cajun seasoning) you can get Todd's seasonings & marinades at the McCutcheon's store in Frederick. They also sell attractive kitchen tchotchkies like tea towels, needle-felted critters, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful. The store is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. My family was born and raised in the Frederick, MD area so needless to say we loved McCutcheon's. We have all since moved away but every year for Christmas my mom places a large order and has them shipped to all of us as Christmas gifts especially the apple butter! It's our new family tradition and it's literally the only thing I asked for as a gift. Unfortunately for this year. My family will no longer continue this tradition due to the fact that when we all opened our jars on Christmas morning they contained mold! I was so disappointed. We spend the whole year looking forward to apple butter toast on Christmas morning and for as much as my mother spends this is unacceptable. It was nice while it lasted but we will no longer be customers. Even our pineapple preserves had mold in them and the expiration dates on the jars were no where near the date we opened...

My beloved mom who’s not here anymore introduced me to chow chow about 3 years ago. She found it in Miller Farms (Clinton Md). I frowned like …..she said growing up we put this over our collard/kale greens (scoop or two) and honey it was good! I tried it and was instantly HOOKED! Couldn’t believe how tasty it was. Jar was gone quickly after. I made the mistake of buying chow chow from another brand and had to immediately trash it because it was horrible and mushy. Long story short, MF wants too much for this and I found MAP online and was able to order directly from them. Shipping was a little expensive but my order was shipped quickly, it was packaged well and arrived very FAST.
