Five Below — Local services in Freeport

Decent products at affordable prices but I really wish the staff would leave me alone. They are way too friendly and it makes me kind of uncomfortable. As a more introverted individual I just want to get in, get my stuff and get out. I'm not trying to have a conversation. And if I see that there's a cashier and I choose to go to self checkout anyways, it means I don't want to be bothered. So when the cashier walks up to me and asks if they can help in any kind of way that feels not only invasive but also like they're accusing me of stealing and trying to keep an eye on me. If this is some kind of corporate policy then it needs to be revised because it gives off very weird smothering vibes. I also don't need more than one person yelling at me "welcome to Five Below" every time I walk in the door. I know where I am. I don't need you telling me. Seriously the staff at the store act like they're part of a cult. It's too much sometimes. They need to tone it down severely. I would rather the cashiers be real with me and show me their true faces versus this fake customer...

Inefficient checkout process. They used to check you out at the main register like any other normal store but now they refuse to use that anymore and force you to the self-checkouts. But it gets better. Because apparently self-checkout isn't a thing anymore. They have to check you out themselves even at the self checkouts. Insisted on checking myself out because that's what they are for and the associate told me that they don't have self checkouts they have associate checkouts. Whatever that means. And that I'm not allowed to check myself out and they had to insist. When I asked why they said it was because people have been stealing so no one can check themselves out anymore. So basically don't shop here unless you want to be treated like a criminal. I will not shop anywhere that does not allow me to check myself out. Or if you have to do it for me do it at the big register. I don't like your employees getting in my...

I love having Five Below in Freeport IL. The customer service is outstanding. Kara was so helpful in finding items for my students Easter gifts. She was kind and knowledgeable. It is a bonus to have this store here for teachers who like to give goodies bags and gifts for their students. I also did a lot of my classroom shopping here. The store is clean and always easy to shop. Keep it up...
