I had the most amazing experience at my first Iftar at the Turkish American Society of MN. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by such a warm and gracious community. The kindness and hospitality were so genuine. It truly felt like everyone was happy to be together, celebrating and sharing good food.

The food was spectacular! We started with a comforting bowl of Lentil Soup that set the tone for an incredible feast. There was so much variety, and every dish had its own unique, delicious flavor. I loved the Dimlyama, the tender and flavorful Kazakh mantı (dumplings), the hearty Kazakh plov, and the delightful Baursak.

The selection of pastries and breads was such a treat, especially the Spinach or Potato Börek. And it didn’t stop there. We had Samsa, and Sautéed Veggies. The salads were fresh and vibrant, from the simple Green Salad to the flavorful Carrot Salad and creamy Russian Salad.

And the desserts? Incredible. The Milky Dessert (chocolate) was smooth and rich, while the Poppy Seed Cake and Cocostar were heavenly. Not to mention the assortment of cookies, cupcakes, fresh fruits, and the perfectly brewed tea and coffee to end the night.

But what made the experience truly special was the sense of community and connection. It wasn’t just about the food (though the food was fantastic); it was about feeling welcomed. I left feeling so grateful to have been part of something...

It was a delightful experience! I went to a Turkish cooking event for the first time! The event was wonderful and fun!! I enjoyed the food. I am not Turkish myself, and it t was nice to be involved in making a Turkish meal. The first time, I did that. What I liked about the cooking class was that everyone helped make the food! The class engaged everyone in it! The cooking event, it was nice to participate in other people's culture! I would highly recommend coming on the 2nd Sunday of Each, month 2 to 430 pm to cook at the Turkish American Society.

In my own opinion, the world should engage or learn of other people's culture, and the world would become very welcoming...

I've done two Turkish Lamp classes and I'd love to do a third! Not only is the class and overall creation super fun but the people who run the whole operation are amazing! Everyone is so kind, each time I've visited I've met amazing people and have had a blast. I'd love to attend more of their events in the future! Especially the cooking...
