Got a recommendation to come here from a former employee for some standard repairs (men's wedding band resize and a re-tipping on a travel ring). Dan, the owner, was the one who assisted me and my husband. When discussing the ring resize, I mentioned several times my concerns with cutting the ring due to the nature of the design (a bead blast matte finish and milligrain edges) and wanted sizing beads. I was ignored and he assured me I wouldn't see the seam where the ring was resized. We returned a week later to pick up our repairs, Dan assisted us again, he goes to unwrap the band and the matte finish has been polished off the ring. I was extremely upset, my husband and I took time to customize his ring and to get him something that he loved. Dan seemed the least bit concerned about it and said they weren't sure if it was due to age (We got married only 4 months ago, a platinum ring wouldn't look like that after only a few months) or design. Instead of calling me before finishing the repair to clarify, they went ahead and polished it to a shine. He went into the back and had the bench jeweler "re-texturize" the ring to a satin finish. While it may have "fixed" the problem in the moment. The ring is not the same as it was before I brought it in for re-sizing and I am deeply upset with the lack of care and thought behind their mistake. Attached are pictures of the band on our wedding day and the band after Hufford's "re-texturized" it after making the mistake. It is clearly different than its original and we are upset that a symbol of our marriage is no longer the same as the day we got married. Read moreI had an incredible experience at Hufford’s. I bought a watch that I could afford on Amazon. When it arrived, the watch looked great, but I could not get the clasp to work right, and the band was too big, and needed some links removed to fit my wrist properly. So, I brought the watch in to Hufford’s. They discovered that a key part of the clasp had been installed backwards, so the clasp would not work. It was a tricky job to remove the incorrectly installed part without damaging it, since it was wedged into a tight spot. The folks at Hufford’s got the job done, got the band assembled and working properly, and got the watch up and running properly. In the meantime, they gave me an education on automatic watches, which is what my new watch is. Apparently, Rolex watches are automatic as well, meaning they have no battery, but are powered by the movement of the person wearing the watch. I am thrilled with the look of my new watch. It looks like a Rolex, but costs a lot less. What did they charge me for all of this fantastic service and repair work? A surprisingly low amount of money. Needless to say, I will be going to Hufford’s whenever I need help with this watch or any other watch or piece of jewelry that needs some help. The repair technicians are right on the premises, and they come out and talk to you about your watch and what needs to be done. They are patient, knowledgeable, professional, and personal in taking the time to get to know us and what we are looking to create short term and long term. Unfortunately we had an issue with our loose diamond purchased outside of the country, and Huffords advocated for us to try to rectify the situation. They did not have to do this, but they genuinely wanted to see that we were treated fairly and ethically. Because of this, our future fine jewelry purchases will only be from Huffords. The cherry on top of the whole experience was the time and care they took with our teenage son when he asked to have a few links taken out of his late grandfather's watch to better fit him. They fit the watch immediately for him, but asked to keep it to clean it thoroughly and change the battery. We just picked it up with my ring they had to set the loose diamond. Both were beautiful.
