3 friends and I went to this restaurant on a Monday afternoon right around 1245pm. The place seemed very nice, clean, plenty of seating available and we were greeted almost immediately upon entry. The gentleman, who greeted us grabbed 4 menus and escorted us to our table. My friend D, had her 2 year old Son and requested a high chair because there was absolutely no room for him in either side of the booth. (Total of 4 adults). We were brought a wooden high chair, and given about 10 minutes to look over the menu and decide what we wanted to drink. We ordered 2 waters, 1 lemonade, 1 mango boba tea and a half and half tea for the kid. (which by the way, they do not have children size cups). Here is a list of issues we faced during our hour lunch.
Communication is horrible. For some reason there was a big misunderstanding on the appetizers. It was so easy to tell the Waiter what we wanted, using the exact numbers on the menu. My friend K, ordered the A2 fresh spring rolls appetizer. She received 2 ONLY Pork (no shrimp) roll. But the menu states they are pork & shrimp rolls. She was really hungry and didn't want to fuss, assuming she miss understood somehow. So she accepted the only pork spring rolls, and ate 1 of the 2. My friend D ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls (which from the look of the menu would be fried since there is a picture with a fried spring roll and an A1 label on the photo. They delivered them (after WE asked for them 4 times, and more than halfway through our meal- they were brought. But, they were Vietnamese spring rolls with SHRIMP inside. NOT spring rolls. She refused them. They apologized for that. My appetizer (A11) was served cold [Pan fried Dumplings are supposed to be hot]. The guy put all our food on 1 ticket and expected 1 person to pay for everyone. They didn't refill any of our drinks or even ask if we wanted more to drink. We all had empty cups. D asked for lemonade to go (since she didn't get her spring rolls) the guy said no, there would be a charge. K got a Mango Boba tea. That was $4.25 & they charged her an extra $0.50 for 10 boba balls. (Which you would think would be included in the $4.25 price but they are not). D had to get up from the table and walk over to the guy and tell him that we needed 3 separated checks, because we all had different things and we were paying separately. The guy split up our checks, but put a $0.50 charge on my and date's tab. (Which when I brought up, he told me was the charge for the pearls on the bottom of the Mango Boba drink). That should have never been on our tab. We had to ask for silverware and napkins. Every time we asked for something we got a "Yeh. Ok". The Pho had a great taste to it but they didn't drain off the extra fat. So the surface along the top was oily, which made using their plastic chopsticks very challenging. K, J and I all ordered Pho. He brought out 1 plate of herbs, 2 pieces of jalapeno and a cup and a half of bean sprouts for all of us to share, on a single plate. I thought that was unsanitary and pretty ridiculously that 1 of us had to go without lime and jalapeno just so 2 of us can have a little piece. Would it have really killed them to provide 1 slide or lime and jalapeno for all 3 of us? I took it upon myself when we had finished, to clean up our table. To neatly stack all the plates with the plates, bowls with bowls, cups with cups. Clean up the rice and such from the child--- but not one time did anyone come by while we dined and remove any of the dishes. So as you can image we had a crammed table, with little room to move.
Overall, our experience was rather frustrating. We did not receive any type of apology, we did not receive a to-go--- it was almost like pulling teeth to get anything from them. I will not be returning to this location. I have had better tasting Pho elsewhere, close by. The only pro here is that it is open on Monday, and it is within 8 miles from my location.
Patience is a virtue; I'll take my business elsewhere. All...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter a long and stressful day we happened upon this cozy little restaurant. We'd intended to end our search for food at the Five Guy's burger joint next door, but something about this place caught our eyes, so we went in. Upon entering we were surprised at the ambient atmosphere. From the outside, it looks like a Chinese takeout restaurant. Although we were aware it was Vietnamese cuisine, we were expecting something completely different. We were definitely not expecting the elegant cozy atmosphere that this storefront restaurant provides. The staff is laid-back and friendly. But not too laid-back, that you feel as if you are not experiencing good dining. We decided to start off with the fresh spring rolls and they did not disappoint. For a main course we decided to try two bowls of Pho. I had the shrimp Bowl in a small, while the other person in my party decided to go for a large. The vegetables were brought out first in typical Vietnamese restaurant fashion and then the Pho came shortly after. It was by far the best Pho I've had locally. The consistency of the Pho followed through all the way to the bottom of the bowl. Unlike other Pho I've tried, where the seasoning all settles at the bottom. The fresh spring rolls were perfect. Fresh ingredients and the roll was easy to bite. I've had a few rice or cucumber rolls that were hard to bite or chew but these were delectable. Because of my great experience I decided to visit again a few days later. This time I added in shrimp rolls with my Pho and spring rolls. The shrimp rolls were good. Not spectacular, but good. Nothing I couldn't have gotten at a local Chinese takeout restaurant or at any other Vietnamese restaurant. But they were good and that was satisfying enough for me. This place is cozy, quiet, and conveniently located. The food is great, and that's good enough for me. Both times I visited the place was very clean. I also needed to use the restroom facilities. There was one restroom for women and one for men. The women's restroom was a very clean complete with ambient light. If you're looking for a place to take a casual date, or to have a casual business meeting, or just a place to have lunch, this Restaurant will suffice. I am very satisfied and will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been coming since they've opened, it's located right outside of OP mall by the theater. They offer many options of Vietnamese food, non-alcoholic drinks and desserts here. As I walked in, there's a "yelp love us" sign in the front, so that was cute. I haven't dined in yet but always to go my order since I have a little one, so eating out isn't always an option. I love the interior design decorations here, very modern yet still traditional.
My to go food is always nicely packed and well secured. Hubby had the C2 (Pork chop combo rice), grilled pork chop serces with rice, eggs & fermented cabbage with a side of fish sauce. I had my all time favorite, the S1( Hues spicy noodles) thick noodles serves with spicy beef broth and veggies, I would like less oil in my broth next time because it was heavier than usual tonight but still very delicious. My sister had the CS7 (Pan fry -thick flat noodles) and CS5 (Crispy seafood -egg noodles) which had the same ingredients but serve with different type of noodles. Very healthy option, lots of veggies, shrimp, squid & immitation crabs. And I always get my three flavor beans for dessert (red, black & white beans, serve with jello, coconut milk and shredded rice).
I usually call 10-20 minutes ahead of time so I don't need to wait long for my to-go order. The cashier usually friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this...
