I have no clue what the heck I just ate. I ordered a gyro and was expecting them to cut some meat straight off the spit, but instead the woman went to the back and came back out with a plate full of meat tomatoes peppers and onions and threw it on a grill. I've never seen that with a gyro before. Then they don't even have pitas, they put it in a wrap- not a problem, just not what I was expecting. After seeing this, I just told myself as long as it tastes good who cares. When I was finished, I can't quite make out if it tasted good or not, because I'm still confused about what I consumed. All I know is it was not a Mediterranean gyro. There was no tzatziki sauce, the cool crisp of vegetables I'm used to were warm and soft. But what really threw it off was this sauce that was smothered all over it. It had an unexpected spice to it, seeming like it was horseradish-based with insurmountable amounts of garlic. I don't need to brush my teeth, I need a dentist appointment. Either way, this whole conglomeration was some kind of wrap with meat and other stuff in it, but it wasn't a gyro, and wasn't worth $12. Read moreWow!! I’m so sorry and super excited at the same time! Sorry that I didn’t find out that Karam’s moved from University to OP or I would have been here long ago - but very excited to be a customer of theirs again as they have fantastic Mediterranean food - the best around!
I know I sound like a fanboy but I’ve been a patron for over a decade and due to COVID-19 my trips to the University area where they were located came to a halt. And Covid or not I really don’t have much desire to visit the Orange Park mall. But now I do!!
Man this is so exciting to have my favorite Greek and Mediterranean food restaurant right in my backyard - I’ll finish my leftovers tomorrow BUT ILL BE BACK BY THERE...
Read moreFast, and absolutely delicious. Really didn't expect this level of amazing from a food court, and frankly it was a little barren-looking at first.
HOWEVER - The owner seems to take great pride in his food and it shows in how it tastes. We love middle eastern food and this is going to be a new favorite! We both had the lamb/beef schwarma platters with the curry rice and all the sides, and we got some hummus (with olive oil, paprika, and parsley) as well.
My advice? Take their advice on what to get. Just keep saying yes to whatever they want to put on the platter, you'll be glad you did. (Especially the pickled turnips!)
Shukran lak sayidi!...
