I would leave 5 stars for the floor attendant Joshua, who worked with us on several occasions, 5 stars for the checkout attendant Kyla, but - 4 stars for the storage staff, which leaves an average of 2 stars overall for the store. Specifically, we had very bad service from the storage attendant Carl, who was extremely rude. My husband and I purchased a vanity and called the store the day before asking if they could help us put the product in our car when we picked it up from storage. The attendant said yes. We came in the next morning, and Carl showed signs that he did not want to help. For instance, he looked at our SUV and said, “This vanity will not fit, not matter how you try it”. We asked to try because my husband had measured the space before and we thought it would fit. The other storage attendant who had been at the checkout counter said we could try it, while Carl did not say anything and took a long time to go and place the vanity a good distance from the car with a forklift. We asked if he could place it closer to the car, and he didn’t answer but rather complained about doing other work that was more important. My husband suggested driving the car closer, and since Carl hadn’t spoken or done anything, went to do so. Carl then yelled at him not to move the car and silently moved the vanity closer with the forklift. We were then able to lift the vanity into the car, with the help of the other storage attendant, and it ended up fitting and we took it home. Given the size of the store, I would expect that all members of the team, including those working in the storage area, would receive customer service training. Due to this rude episode, I am giving 2 stars for the...
Read moreWhen your late 1940s Gulf-side house starts letting fiddler crabs climb through the floor, you know it’s time for an upgrade. (Cedar KeyThose hurricanes!) Our bathroom and toilet room had holes big enough for wildlife to RSVP, so my wife and I set off on a missioninstall new floors and reclaim the home from the sea.
We landed at Floor & Decor, which is kinda of ironic because there was a banner towing plane at my job that flew the banner to promote the Williamsburg location. We fell in love with a black-and-white checkerboard tile—because nothing says “classy coastal chaos” like a retro floor turned 45° for extra flair. Being first-timers, we bought more than we thought we needed. Naturally, we used all of it and still came up short one box.
We came back… only to find the tile was sold out. All that remained was a single, glorious sample box~ther Hail Mary.
Enter the dream teamAndres, Brandon, and Charles. They sprang into action, hunted it down, and somehow made it happen. Like tile ninjas. Maggie the cashier rang us up with the grace of someone who’s seen it allincluding desperate DIYers fighting off crab intrusions. She deserves a medal. Or at least a raise.
Now our floor is sealed, squared~ish, and looking like it belongs in a vintage diner commercial. No more crabs. No more gaps. Just clean lines, bold contrast, and the sweet satisfaction of a job barely held together by caffeine (i bring a coffee maker to the job site), YouTube, and Floor & Decor’s top-notch team.
Highly recommend. And if you’re wondering~yes, we kept the sample box for sentimental reasons. Or a reminder of how destructive...
Read moreHave been to the store multiple times. Every time customer service is a major issue. It appears management doesn’t directly address it given historical negative reviews. The checkout guy at the front, older gentleman, has a horrible attitude, as if you are causing him an imposition to ring up the supplies you aggregated in the store and are having to pay for. When you need to change account information (I had to change my address and email due to a move) you get a response of a huff and subsequent ineptitude on company systems. Further, this guy, when scanning tiles we were purchasing would literally drop them 8 inches from the cart to place them back on the cart, causing cracked and completely broken travertine tiles. Horrible staff member. Same attitude for three separate visits. I’ll get his name next time and update this review.
Visited today and decided to avoid the same guy at the front checkout and checkout at the pro desk in the back. Spent around $2,500 this trip on materials. As a disabled veteran I asked if there was a veterans discount and the heavyset gentlemen at the back responded with “yeah, we charge double for veterans….and then a 50% discount”. I responded with “that’s not funny”. I’ll get his name as well if I go back.
Before checking out I was asking for assistance on a product and had to attempt three times to get the attention of a sales associate while standing 3 feet from him. Sad.
Needless to say, shopping at this store will frustrate you immensely. Leadership and management is obviously lacking.
I’d advise that you...
