Getting married is one of the happiest times of your life but shopping for a wedding gown can prove to be stressful. I knew what type of gown I wanted and began looking. I lived in Gainesville, FL at the time and began looking for my dress but to no avail. I visited: Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Tallahassee, but I could not find any dresses that were close to what I was looking for.

Finally, a sales consultant informed me that my taste was a couple years ahead of the local trends and that I'd have to go to a major metropolitan area and pay an arm and a leg if I wanted to find what I was looking for. Frustrated and quite frankly, pretty bummed out, I thankfully remembered Jacquelyn Brooks Designs. I contacted her, sent photos and asked if she could design something similar for me. The dress was absolutely perfect, greatly exceeded my expectations and fit within my budget. Thrilled with my wedding dress alterations! My gown had loads of tulle and lace and Jacquelyn created perfect lines with both the bodice and hem. Portions of my skirt were different lengths of tulle and she managed to design bustles that give the dress a nice silhouette and prevent it from dragging on the floor. I had a special bust situation--I typically have to go up at least two dress sizes to accommodate my chest--so Jacquelyn put most of the support in the bodice of the dress and came up with a creative way to lift my chest while not placing too much stress on the straps (they are tulle illusion straps). I found Jacquelyn to be wonderful to work and communicate with--she is very responsive to e-mail and takes your concerns seriously, developing creative solutions so you are happy with the end result. Absolutely wonderful experience! I have watched friends go through very stressful wedding planning experiences, including dress fittings, and was terrified of finding someone for myself. NO STRESS HERE! Jacquelyn was/is incredibly helpful and put any worries that I had at ease. She explained everything in great detail and walked me through everything that she was thinking. She also told me of different options, advising me on what she would do, even going as far to advise the less expensive option. When I first went in, my dress would not stay up without extensive clipping and walking without stepping on it was highly unlikely.
