I walked in to a huge 50% off sale sign taking up the entire window. Determined to find some good deals, I went to the back of the store to the clearance section where each rack—front and end—was specifically marked with red clearance signs and picked several items to try on. As I was trying them on I noticed all throughout the store and in the dressing room little signs that said “don’t let the Karens win!” with a link to leave positive reviews on google. I wondered why. Eventually I decided on a skirt and a shirt I loved, but when I brought them to the counter was told they “weren’t on sale” because they “didn’t have a sticker.” I didn’t see anything anywhere in the store mentioning stickers, just the rows and rows of clearly marked clearance racks. I’m a college student on a tight budget and I specifically came here for the sale. I politely explained that I specifically got both pieces from the 50% off rack and was told again that they were not on sale because they didn’t have a sticker. I humbly asked if there was any possible way I could still get them for fifty percent because I hadn’t budgeted for them full price. No can do. I went to apply my rewards account, and the first promotion that popped up was—wait for it—a coupon for “50% off sale!” I asked if I could apply the coupon to my order and I was told that that was “just saying that they extended the sale.” But not for my order. No coupon, no sticker, no sale. Normally I love Plato’s closet but I left feeling super bad energy and I was baffled. Looking at the other lower star reviews and their replies I’ll probably be told “sucks to suck,” “it must be hard not always getting what you want” or “you’re banned from selling with us ever again” but I genuinely just was confused about why I had such a negative interaction and why there seemed to be so much red tape in a clearly marked sale.
Lesson learned: if there’s a sale, bring your own stickers. You’re going...
Read moreI love Plato's closet I used to go to the ones downstate. Great prices, but bad customer service. The lady was rude right when I walked in with a box of clothes I wanted to sell. It was my first ever bringing close in. **Note I called the store a week prior to how selling works and I was told on the phone that I just bring in the clothes and they will look at them and see what they will take. Well when I got there I walked in and the first thing the lady tells me is to set the box down and have my photo ID and starting enter something in the system they have. Well I never brought in clothes there so I was confused but instead of the lady kindly explaining how the process works, she was highly rude and didn't pay no attention what so ever kept folding clothes, rarely looked at me when I was asking her questions. I asked for a manager and she said she was the manager. I felt disrespected and not valued as a customer if that's how you run your store then you will never get my...
Read moreWe went to Plato’s Closet for the first time today to try to find a HOCO dress. The store was very cluttered. A bit disorganized as far as dresses go. There wasn’t a “formal” and “non formal” distinction. Which made it a little hard having to look through the racks. Having the dresses divided by formal and casual would be MUCH better. And they really need to ask people to bring in their used formal dresses with the lack of stores selling formals I’m sure they would sell quick and provide an option where options are lacking. Saw a lot of older clothes that were quite faded and worn out. Which I was surprised by given all the reviews. The staff was very nice and friendly but, sheesh they were quite the scary looking bunch. With the exception of one man who was not scary. I felt a little weird about sliding my card in there. The atmosphere was a little off putting. Could really be great just seems it needs some better management and...
