I had brought some PokĆ©mon cards in to get them appraised and potentially sell them. There were about 8 rare cards that I gave to the owner, and he pointed one out immediately and told me that he was not interested in it at all and that it wasnāt worth anything, he then went on to talk about how he hated those cards when they first came out and how he thought they were the āugliest thingsā because you ācouldnāt even read themā etc, etc. Now, the funny thing is that I had actually just gotten that specific card appraised by another local business about 5 minutes prior and it was actually worth around 100 dollars. This was an immediate red flag and I pretty much stopped taking anything he said seriously after that. He also took one of the other cards out of itās protective sleeve to look at it, and was not handling them carefully at all. At one point he actually coughed into the hand he was holding them with. Unreal. The entire time he was also paying attention to a game show that was playing on a tv behind me and making references to it out loud.
(Side note, this was not a clean space at all. It was dirty and smelled bad.)
Eventually, he told me the amount that he would give me for the cards, which was significantly less than the other local business I went toā¦No surprises.
In short, I will not be returning ever. Absolutely terrible experience in every way possible. I am completely baffled how he is still...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit 04/25/23: as of January Dave no longer owns the fun factory and the fun factory is under new ownership. I cannot speak for the fun factories current ownership as I have not been there yet since the sign over.
I've been going to the fun factory since 2014, I've viewed some of the other reviews on the lower end of the star system and have to disagree based on experience.
Walking into the fun factory know one thing, The owner Dave is a really nice guy, but don't expect him to be on his knees greeting and assisting you like a servant, that's his store not yours.
He has the largest selection of MTG I have seen in Traverse and throws weekly tournaments at the store, I typically enjoy doing commander on Saturdays starting at 6:00 p.m.
He has many other games available at the store, and yes the Fun Factory does have PokƩmon cards, this includes Yu-Gi-Oh cards, etc. The Fun factory does have a vast selection of board games.
There's definitely a community that knows each other at this store, if you frequent the store you will know most everybody by name by the end of the year. People love coming here, and it's not just for the games, it's for the community that loves and appreciates what Dave has created at his...
