Went in for the first time today to check out the new supermarket. As soon as we went in, we saw the owner, Samuel, who was super nice to speak with and so informative. It is a very new establishment with fair prices on many of the items we saw. Others may be questionably priced, but this makes sense in today's economy. The store is very clean and organized. The lighting is good and doesn't feel outdated at all. It isn't a big supermarket, but for the area, it is pretty good.
As we were checking out, we asked about the loyalty points program because the owner mentioned it, and we definitely wanted to sign up. However, the information is collected on paper, and you do not receive loyalty points even when signing up and making a purchase at the same time. I asked for the manager, whose name is Miguel, and when I mentioned whether we could save our receipt for getting the points in the future, he stated no, it cannot be done and proceeded to say, "It is what it is," which I found to be a bit rude. He is part of the customer service desk and maybe needs some lessons in customer service; that statement was unprofessional. The young lady was sweet but a bit shy. My elderly mother asked a takeout restaurant if they accepted SNAP benefits; however, they do not yet participate in that program. That's a bit of a letdown. It has the potential to be pretty good as a local supermarket, especially if you are looking for certain Latin-inspired foods. But the manager's rudeness...
