I walked into the store 5 min before close and literally picked out a box of popcorn (3 bag) and bag of dog treats and was checking out a minute before close but there were no lanes open and the “manager” Janet was there and informed me that I could not buy the items and would need to come back at 7 am to purchase them…..? I asked why I was not able to purchase them and she said I just couldn’t and she had already closed her register. I even offered to pay cash double the value of the items if that was helpful just so that I could get the items I was there for and to not make an ordeal out of the door being unlocked and me being in the store clearly before closing and up to the counter before closing. She was extremely rude and anything but helpful and it definitely put a damper on the end of an already exhausting day. Hopefully they can get better management and or Employees who actually care about helping clients out and or communicating calmly and controlled to resolve any future issues. Not to say that the normal employees I’ve encountered there over the past two years have not been nice and helpful but unfortunately Janet was far from it. . Waited 10 minutes for an employee to come over. Her name was Heather. She very rudely told she will not fill my balloons because they weren’t purchased here. Not a problem. I’ll buy them here.
They didn’t have any. I need a foil gold 1 and pink latex balloons.
I told her I was told they would do it and may I please speak to the manager. She VERY RUDLEY AGAIN told me she was the manager. (Later found out that was a lie)
I then asked another employee where I could find balloons in a package cause I’ll buy 40-100 at this point and pay whatever to fill them. (I just REALLY needed them) She said she would blow the ones I brought in up. This employee was PHENOMENAL. Complete opposite of Heather who very frankly SHOULD NOT be in customer service. I understand there is a helium shortage but for god sakes there is a way to say stuff. When two employees tell me they can and one is just being rude…It’s kinda ridiculous.

They say they have a "maintenance man" who works on the machines all the time. Well fire his a**, because they're always broken. Or maybe Spartan/Nash should put some money into their store for once. They haven't done anything to that store since they bought it off the Catt family years and years ago. It's sad. Save yourself the time and aggravation and just go to Walmart to shop and return cans or drive to the other end of town to go to Meijer. You'll thank yourself in the long run.
