(Duplicate from my Yelp! review)
Could I possibly not give this store a star? I went into the store this afternoon to sell Hollister, Abercombie, American Eagle and Old Navy tops, dresses, a men's RVCA fleece lined hoodie.. and after the girl told me it would take about 35 minutes.. I notice my name is written on the board after about 10-15 minutes.
I come up to the counter and she tells me that "we are having trouble selling shirts even though your stuff is good stuff".. ohh.. is that so? Let me just say, all of my clothing was a Large/X-Large and when browsing the store I could BARELY find any cute clothing in this side- especially name brand clothing.. but the racks are over flowing with Target, the Disney store, Wal-Mart and clothes my 7 year old cousin wouldn't even wear.
I have NEVER had a problem selling my clothes to this store, and I figure I could sell them before donating them in hopes of making a bit of cash.
Lets then talk about how you walk into the store and the girl who greeted me, all I could stare at was her bright pink tongue ring moving inside of her mouth (real classy).. and her tight concert t-shirt she had on. If you are a store modeled after selling second hand name brand fashion- why isnt your worker who is bigger in the top than I am- wearing the clothes you market for? Maybe she could have used my large sized clothes that totaled over $250-$300 when I purchased them brand new less than a year ago. Maybe her Kelly Clarkson over priced t-shirt she bought at an awful concert is appropriate retail employee clothing.. who knows. There's a reason she works there and not in a place like Hollister or Abercombie and Fitch.
Second, after calling the manager and her lovely anti-fat girl prejudice tone.. I could have driven back to the store and made a huge scene but I did not. Telling me they have "a couple things in the L/XL section and shes sorry the girl went through my stuff so quickly". What she should have said is that she hates "plus size" or "over Medium sized girls" and spit in my face. And I brought up to her the bad reviews she had online including the ones on here and on Yahoo! and she simply did not give a damn. GREAT way to run a business.
Now, am I mad I didnt get the $3.60 they would have offered me because they're such a SCAM!? No, no I am not.. I went in there knowing that would happen. But I am highly upset they rejected my clothing because of the size. If those brands can sell those sizes originally I am pretty sure your over-priced second hand Wal-Mart can as well. Goodwill would benefit more from my clothing than the Geneva Plato's closet.
I hope the size 8 Asian girl that came before me walked away with a better experience than I did.. because my ranting and raving over their shallow minded customer service...
Read moreI've had alot of great experiences here selling clothes, even tho not everything is accepted, that's totally fine w me and I understand why. But this last time I'm pretty bummed about. I don't think even half of the clothes I brought in were looked at. I had 2 very large bags and upon bringing them back home, most of the clothes were still folded the exact & particular way I folded them, plus in the same order when put in the bag. I know not everything I brought in was spectacular, especially the items on top. Items at the bottom were clothes you'd most likely be interested in (guys Champion, Lee, Hollister, etc.) these appeared to be untouched. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm skeptical that whoever looked at my items, then folded them up the exact same way as I did. Like I said, I've sold here alot and never in the past have things been folded back up this same way. Once I got the text that my items were ready, I was already waiting at the store for a long time, the girl told me "oh sorry your items were finished awhile ago I just forgot to send the text". Not a huge deal, but slightly annoying since I needed to be somewhere at that time. And finally when checking out for the one item that was brought, the girl was training another girl and said to her "if there are no notes as to why we didn't accept, just say 'the items are styles we're having a hard time selling' ". This also makes me feel like my clothes weren't all looked at cuz there were no notes. I'll still come back in the future to sell more, and I'll change my review back to 5 stars assuming the experiences are good like...
Read moredon’t waste your time. I brought four bags to Plato’s closet this morning and was told it would be a six hour wait. They did get it done earlier than six hours, however when I went back to pick up my bags, they only took three items. That’s fine however, I had a Lululemon, princess Polly, and other very popular, well selling brands. Even some of them still have the tags on them. I thought it was strange that only three items were bought, but I figured there had to be an explanation. Now that I’m looking at my bags, I realize that three of my four bags were not even gone through. I know this because they are left in the exact same way that I stuffed them had to be an explanation. Now that I’m looking at my bags, I realize that three of my four bags were not even gone through. I know this because they are left in the exact same way that I stuffed them together. I understand that they have a lot of bags to go through, but they need to have some kind of better system. It was such a waste of my time to go and wait around for multiple hours just to only have one of my bags looked through. If they can’t handle all of the clothes being brought in, then they need to figure out a better system because it was a waste of my time and energy , and it makes them look bad for only taking...
