While traveling the country across from California, I stopped in the little town of Georgetown, Colorado. While stretching my legs throughout the downtown area, I stumbled Georgetown Valley Company, a local mom and pop sweetooth center. Now I'm not much of a sweetooth guy, but we only live once. As soon as I walked into this establishment, the aroma, the atmosphere of this place was captivating. As I walked through the door, a very hospitable Glory approached me, saying, "Hi, welcome in. What's itching at your sweetooth today?" And proceeded to give a history lesson of the town and the roots of the Georgetown Valley Candy Co. After the history lesson, I decided on ice cream, which she recommended the Butter Brickle flavor. And I'll say this much, it wasn't a disappointment, and itched that sweetooth of mineWhile traveling the country across from California, I stopped in the little town of Georgetown, Colorado.    Read moreReally good homemade ice cream, unfortunately the hospitality and friendliness is lacking. We stopped in on the way back to Denver from the mountains on Labor Day. We entered the store around 4:30pm and instantly could tell they were not happy to have anymore customers, there were 2 girls working and one guy. Nobody said hello, welcome anything. The one girl finally said âI can help whoâs nextâ we ordered our three cones, the girl shoved them at us and I paid. My 77 year old mother and 72 year old dad were with us and they sat down inside the store. Immediately one of the girls ran outside and took the open sign in. I told my parents they were closing and we may need to move. I asked the girl at the front what time they close and she said 6pm?! It was an hour and a half away?! The young girl then said yes we close in an hour but we are not allowing indoor seating. My elderly parents were sitting there eating ice cream and the young girl came with a broom to sweep at their feet and let us know they close in an hour. Next the gentleman that worked there started changing the trash bags and staring at us with an unpleasant look. We finally decided it was time to leave and reconsider our return next time we are in...
Read moreEvery time we drive to Denver, Georgetown Valley đŹđ is our number one stopping place! They have a wide variety of popcorn, candies, souvenirs, stuffed animals, hand-dipped ice creams and so much more! The staff is amazing! They are kind, friendly, helpful, and do everything they can to ensure that you have a wonderful visit. On our most recent trip, we brought a very large school group. We called ahead of time and made arrangements to purchase some caramel corn and ice cream so as not to overwhelm anyone. As it was very cold that day, we ended up getting hot chocolate and ice cream. The staff had our bags of caramel corn all ready to go in boxes which made getting in and out with approximately 25 teenagers quite easy. I could go on and on about a wonderful establishment this is! It needs to be on your must-see list when traveling l-70 to, or from,...
