This place is a disaster! We reserved the Log Room King and without contacting us they moved us into the Antique Room Queen. I was a road warrior for 7 years and never had a hotel change my reservation because they felt like it. They said it was because we reserved the room for one person - which is not true, and we have the confirmation to prove it. We reserved the room for 3 because children under 3 don't need to be listed. Regardless of what we listed, if someone reserves and PAYS for a room the hotel cannot just change them because they feel like it. They were accommodating someone else and in the process decided to screw us over. Then they told me we won in the end because the Queen room was better for 4 people than the King room. Yep - let that sink in. They told me the Queen room was bigger - even though the bed was smaller and the windows leaked so the room was freezing. But hey - we got such a deal according to them.||||Then in the process of providing them feedback - which they asked for - they argued with me about the reservation and made excuses for how they conduct business. ||The hotel was also lackluster. The rooms are eh, the beds are uncomfortable and the breakfast was not good. Unless you like undercooked hard boiled eggs and hard bagels - then you'll love it. And the best part about breakfast is all the appliances plug into the same strip which shorts if more than 1 appliance is on at the same time. So everyone has to wait for each hard bagel to be toasted before they can eat their undercooked egg.||||The staff that asked for feedback but doesn't actually know what to do with feedback are really rude and the people who have to have the last word on everything. It's probably the worst customer service I've ever had at a hotel - and I was a road warrior for 7 years! And I'm sure they will respond with information about the fire code and room capacity.||||This place is not worth it in and...
Read moreWe stayed here rather last minute last night, reserving online day of as we are making a cross country trip and weren't sure how far along we would be. We were glad to find it really homey and clean.
This is a great place for families with more than 2 kids. Our room had two larger beds and one single, which is so nice especially if you have older kids to have a real third bed rather than a cot, couch, or futon. Also of note was the suite option so you could double up on rooms with bed options.
Bathrooms had newer tile and flooring with an older shower. You can tell it is an older place but they are obviously trying to keep up with maintenance, just as anyone in an older home knows is necessary.
Breakfast reminded me of hostels or bed and breakfasts in Europe. Good variety for a basic continental breakfast. There's also a small grocery store within walking distance over the short bridge as well as several restaurants.
Loved having the big stand fan in the room as well as the ceiling fan. One note, make note of where light switches are ahead of waking up in the dark. I managed to run into a wall looking for them but that's on me! They are not always at standard heights. One suggestion for the place might be to place glow marks, tiny lights, or a nightlight in the sink area near the bathroom. If you are visiting just take note of locations beforehand or bring your own nightlight.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. The main room has many board games, books to take or leave, and they have bicycles although we did not use them. Hot tub was good after a long day. ...
Read moreI'll start with the positive, the front desk staff was AWESOME! Super friendly and helpful, they really went out of their way to help us out. Now for the downside. We stayed in the Guest Suite for an outrageous price. The room, I felt, could have been cleaner. When I pulled back the curtains the dust was flying in the air, cob webs from the beams in the ceiling, it just didn't feel very clean to me. The appliances where SOOOOOO old it was ridiculous! Some of the fixtures I recognized from my very first apartment from the 1980's. The bathroom cabinets are in desperate need of refinishing, the shower shot water over the top of the shower curtain, which in turn caused my son to slip and fall on the bathroom floor. In the kitchen they provided about 15 sauce pans and pots, but only 1 frying pan, again from the 1980's. Another complaint I have is that although they did provide the standard small bar of soap, there was no shampoo, conditioner, etc. provided in the room. When I'm paying over $200 a night for a room I expect more. Overall, if it weren't for the friendly staff we probably would have just walked out the door to another hotel. The owners need to re-invest a little to update that particular room, (I can't speak for the other rooms since I didn't see...
