Sometimes its not about how beautiful or intersting it was, how knowledgeable the guide was, or even how many times a customer calls and the call is returned ...maybe it could also possibly be that the effort towards trying to earn your customers business was just not there that day.

Thank you for answering my call 3 times after the first time I called to obtain information. ( I called Paul 3 times and it was the the wrong number, then I called, left messages and sent him text messages and I'm still waiting for his return call or text...its been 5 days now.) However as the owner, manager or person in charge I feel that you could of tried a little harder to get us in for the tour with out a reservation instead of give us Paul's number and have me try to reach him. I understand a reservation is needed and I totally get it, but I feel like a little bit more could have been done to accommodate our party of 8, especially since there was nothing going on prior to our arrival to the mine. I could be wrong, but how I felt is certainly not. Eitherway, it was a cute little town and we got some cute pictures outside of the mine. You might want to change your sign because it says that you had a tour available at 12pm, which was the one we were hoping to be able to do. I bet this would have been a wonderful experience if we would have had the opportunity to do it. I've heard great reviews, I'm sorry that my experience was not the same. Maybe some day we can come back. I look forward to that! Also, thank you for your call after writing my review to tell me to remove it. It was not the friendliest conversation and if I was an undercover customer, I would not have been satisfied with your customer service, so try to take this with a grain of salt and work on areas like this that can improve your business. I always give compliments when it is deserved, unfortunately not this time. Sorry. I do wish you the best though! Have a...

My husband and I went for a tour for my birthday in October 2019. Greg was super accommodating to our needs and our whacky travel misadventures! He is a fantastic teacher, and listener. (I am kinda yappy about my rock & geology enthusiasm because of my volunteer work.) It was fascinating to learn the history of gold mining, this particular mine, and the process he is using in his work. I was super thrilled see the small opal formation he has there, as well as the other crystal (mineral) formations. I really enjoyed digging alongside him too. It is labourous, but in a good way. However, I suppose the whole "hard work" part is effort dependent. I really "dug in" searching for a birthday gift from Mother Earth. My husband enjoyed learning the history, seeing the equipment & rock formations within the mine, but the rock digging didn't hold his interest long. He doesn't care for being underground much anyway. Luckily, Capital Prize Gold Mine is far from the cold, dark, stuffy, cave-like image that may come to mind when you think of any sort of mine. In my opinion, we got double the value for the cost of the tour, so make this a stop when you are in Georgetown. I look forward to visiting...

Great tour - highly recommend! Really interesting info learned on the tour, including history of the area and of the mine itself, how the mine was created, details on the working life of the miner while on the job, and some interactive action. My 14 year old teenage daughter loved it, and she even got to use a pick axe to break up a few pieces of the mine and got to keep what she broke off. Very cool! Paul was an awesome guide - thanks for providing a fun, interesting, and interactive memory in the rockies! Tips: close-toe shoes are a must, and shoes with some traction on the soles are helpful. Flat walking in mine, but a bit damp inside - probably don't wear nice white shoes. Width and height of tunnel is such that we did not feel claustrophobic at all. We purchased tickets in advance online, but were also told we could purchase the tour tickets right on site. For the busier summer months you'd likely want to purchase in advance to secure your spot at your desired time. Tour was approximately one hour long, maybe a few minutes over an hour...

I'm a big fan of Gold Rush and my wife watches it with me. While on vacation in Colorado, I wanted to go panning for gold but was hesitant because I wanted to actually choose the dirt to pan. We found Capital Prize Mine and decided to give this a try. They advertise rock breaking and we didn't know what to expect because they had only a few reviews but decided to try it out. When we got there we started talking to Paul (owner) and one of his employees- we realized they were passionate about the mine. We went on the tour and it was just Paul and us. He's very knowledgeable and we liked the tour a lot and would go on it again. There's different veins of gold/silver and other heavy minerals that you are shown. We were able to grab a piece each to bring out and break after the mine tour. One thing I wish I would've done is take a lot more pictures while in the mine, especially when at the deepest point in the tour (1000 ft - deeper than many other mines will take you). I would recommend this tour to my friends and family.

This was a great experience! I have not been on other mine tours, but this one greatly exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Paul, was very informative and friendly. Our tour group had 8 people and I really felt that Paul personalized the tour to our group. We walked about 1000 feet into the mine tunnel (which was about 50 degrees so bring a jacket) stopping along the way for demonstrations and explanations of geological formations and mining techniques. The tunnel is a little muddy, so don't wear your shiny new nikes. At the end we had the chance to take a rock from the mine (souvenir) and break it open to see if it contained gold or silver ore. Several of the rocks had silver ore which the kids loved seeing. This is a very old and historic mine, but the tour is still in the early stages (think Paul said they had only been doing it since 12/17). I liked the somewhat raw, informal experience of the mine tour and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I don’t have a particular interest in mining, but I found this tour informative and interesting. It was an easy walk into the tunnel, albeit a little chilly and muddy. No one else had booked when we went, so we essentially got a private tour. We had the chance to use a pick-axe, as well as keep any rock fragments that came out of our hard labour. At one point, the lights and the precious solitary candle will go out, engulfing you in complete darkness. You can take photos, but no flash. There is also a photo opportunity at a well-lit portion of the tunnel. If you get to the site early, it may look abandoned. We initially couldn’t find anyone around, but our tour guide eventually showed up about 5 minutes beforehand. Note that there is only a portable toilet on site. $30 is a bit more than what I would’ve liked to spend per person, but if you’re an enthusiast, it might be well worth it to you.
