I love banking with TruWest Credit Union. The employees there are very kind and helpful. Even when you call their after hours number, the folks at the after hour call center are just as kind and helpful. I have only had to be put on hold at the longest 5 minutes or less. Not everyone can be first in que when you call. However the management at the location I like to go to (Pecos and Gilbert Rd.) are very knowledgeable and they take time to understand what your asking and will find a way to make sure you have all the necessary information for your questions. I am a woman who will ask the same question but word it differently just so I can make sure I am understanding my answers correctly, and the bank tellers , are quick to bring in their branch manager if they are not sure of a transaction I need help with like having a legal form notarized that is from a different state, or they will explain exactly what I need for ID to have a document notarized. Depends on the document in some situations. I have been asking my husband since I joined if we could just move all our money to TruWest Credit Union from a Bank our money is in currently. My little account I have with TruWest Credit Union is play money. Now it’s not big.. but I know it’s in good hands. The other thing I love about being a TruWest member is that Credit Unions are member owned and are not a world bank or a commercialized bank where you have to call many numbers before you get the right person who can help you. I hope whomever reads this review, will consider moving all your money to TruWest Credit Union because they treat people like family there. I trust TruWest Union and You can too. One more thing about TruWest that I love is that they’re not like some other Credit Unions and Banks who will not even give you the time of day to open an account if you don’t know someone who already has an account with them. When I walked in to TruWest Credit Union and told them I wanted to open an account there, they took me in , there was no needing to know someone to open an account with them at all. I am like a walking billboard for this Credit Union. I tell everyone to move their money to TruWest Credit Union. I will not bank anywhere else. Well I do but it is a joint account with my husband. I’m still working on him to transfer all our money over to TruWest...
Read moreShort story - DO NOT BANK HERE - THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR LOYAL MEMBERS.
Long Story - This bank doesn't try to work with it's members at all. I have been banking with them for a few years now and recently switched to another bank for a few reasons but decided to leave our account with them open because I planned on using it again soon. During this time, I left a little bit of money in my account and didn't use it much. I recently have been having some financial issues because of COVID-19 (not working) and had to use the money in my account and then some which caused 2 overdrafts. I called to ask them to please reverse the fees because of the circumstances and because it is a whopping $35 each ($70 total) that I can't pay right now. They only agreed to reverse one even though I told them my situation and that I could not pay them. The woman I spoke with talked to her supervisor, who apparently couldn't care less and nothing. So I tried to understand and I transferred some money into the account to cover most but it was still negative by a few dollars. I then had another bill automatically withdrawn from the account before I could cancel it (which I know was my mistake) a few weeks later and called to ask if at least one of the 2 overdraft fees could be reversed and they would not do it. I explained how I cannot afford an extra $70 right now since I can barely pay my bills and could possibly pay one but they couldn't care less. They will only reverse ONE fee per YEAR!!! That is completely ridiculous! I have banked at many places and they have always done at least 2/year but I have also had banks reverse 3 in a year because they actually value their customers (AND BECAUSE THE FEE IS MADE UP - IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY COST THEM ANYTHING). Those other banks did that for me when there wasn't a pandemic happening and TruWest cant even reverse 2 during a major crisis!!!! I am sure they will get help from the government during all of this but won't do anything to pass the help down to it's "small" customers. Again, reversing the fees doesn't cost them anything - they've made money off of the money I have had in there over the years but god forbid I ask them to not charge me an arm and a leg when I overdraft a couple times during a pandemic. I am disgusted and will tell everyone I know to...
Read moreLess than a month ago I started an account with TruWest. Since then I have had to wait 14 days for a debit card to arrive (for a bank that’s based and headquartered in my own state that’s sad), I have had my Zelle function blocked simply for making a transfer between a friend and myself and after finally receiving my debit card I’ve had to wait on hold with customer service because they’re brand new card with plenty of money in it kept declining on a 30 dollar charge. After about an hour of waiting on hold I come to find out that they hadn’t really activated my car yet. Some excuse about old system and new system. Whatever. I deposit a $7,746 check and I think okay it’ll take a few days. They released $300 from the check immediately and put the rest on hold. The next day, they took back the 300 and put that on hold as well. I gave them a call to ask and make sure they had taken it and it wasn’t an unauthorized charge. I was told the funds would be released 9 business days after the deposit. I also get a letter confirming that check would be released on 9/5/2025. Okay, I understand it’s a new account there might be extra holds. Today is the 5th of September. I still don’t have my money. I call and now the release date of my check is on the 11th of September. AN ADDITIONAL 6 DAYS. They don’t have a single answer for me. So I decide I’ve had enough of this useless incompetent bank. They will not return my check and they will not let me close my account until I wait for them to decide they’ll release my money. Who knows, I may have to wait another week after that due to some random excuse. Stay far away from this bank. It is not worth...
