To be fair let's start with positives about this store which would be: quite vast selections of international products and produce, the store looks clean, and floor staff is helpful. However, here's the negatives that make shopping at Tony's quite unpleasant and make me avoid it as much as I can. That has to be a lot of false advertising. What happens constantly here is where they advertise something to be on sale (in their mailings etc.) and the product is just not there (no way sells out so quickly) or price data has not been updated in their system so the scanned price doesn't match, or many sales tags may be confusing or misleading. If that would happen just on occasion I would not even mention it, but in my experience it would happen almost every time I visit. Some marketing decisions are just not done well here in regards to the customers. I don't blame the floor staff there; I think the management should find better ways to make the shopping experience pleasant as this has not been the case for me since they have replaced Valli Produce. Not to mention strange decision to have inexpensive liquors stored in locked cases to make shopping still more annoying. Seriously? Keep expensive stuff locked up, but average priced liquors should be just easily accessible like at Jewel's or Walmart. In closing, I hope things change in the future but so far if I can, I will be avoiding this store despite the convenient location. I wish them well, but they have to stop the nonsense and improve people's...
Read moreFirst visit TERRIBLE customer service!
I went to the Glendale Heights location for the first time at 4:30pm Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023. I gathered a few items and did the self checkout without any trouble. The self checkout asked me if I had a loyalty card, which I did not, so I went to the customer service counter.
At the counter in front of me was a young man, clearly an employee since he was wearing a Tony’s shirt and cap. As I stood waiting, the girl behind the counter came out to the floor side and took the cap off the man’s head, saying “it cost’s $5.00”. They were clearly friendly with each other, as she was joking and taunting him.. At this point the young man noticed me and told the girl “you have a customer”. He went over to the hallway and sat down in a chair. The girl went back behind the desk, and I thought she’d wait on me. But instead, she completely ignored me and began ringing up the $5.00 cap (I’m guessing…since she was typing on her register and looking over at the other employee).
So I gave up and left. I sincerely hope someone looks up the customer service girl, as SHE SHOULD NOT BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! Since this location has just opened recently, you’re probably getting a lot of first time visitors. I will try the store one more time, but if I have another bad experience, that will be it. There are plenty of other grocery stores who appreciate...
Read more. I went to your location to grocery shop, I had 2 carts full of items of all kinds of stuff. And no one could ring me out, the last girl on the register saw me walk up as she wiped her register and she went to close out the register and walked away. 3 young ladies, one being the girl who closed Register start to argue on who will ring us, all shook their heads (no) and walked away. It was before 9:30pm on 5/4/2023 and you guys close at 10pm. They sent us to the self check out where sign is posted that only 15 items or less. I started to ring my items but the registers all self check outs start to go off and only 1 attendee was there. At this point my 4 kids under 6 start running around getting more candy and items we didn't need. I had no choice but to walk away and leave everything I had gone in for. No one was available to ring me out and I didn't want to have a panic attack having to deal with kids running around and a register I shouldn't be using going off. Here is a picture of...
