I wish that I could write a raving review. Usually I do, but I had to say something. People who work here seem like well-meaning people. I booked our room 6 months in advance! Great price. But things happen.
Alas, we did not stay here, although we did get to be in the lobby.
My 11 year old daughter and I flew down for a weekend trip to the Rose Bowl. Back in December when I called to reserve a room, I was told that the Queen Suite would be perfect for us, that the couch would be large enough for my daughter (who is tall) and room for both of us.. so I reserved it happily.
On our way to the airport 2 weeks ago, some nice person from the front desk called to let us know that we would be receiving a free upgrade to a king suite. In that moment I was told that the Queen Suite couch would not fit my daughter, anyway, that it is a very small couch. I need my sleep and that would've meant my daughter would sleep in the bed with me, and she kicks, tosses, turns a lot. We just cannot sleep in the same bed, unless it's a king. So it was great that someone called me with the king suite upgrade! And "free"!
The plane was delayed twice! I called the hotel from the plane to let the front desk know that our plane was late, but we would be there some time around 8 pm.
We finally arrived to the hotel. It was 8:15. We were very tired and hungry. We REALLY needed to get to the room so that I could take my medication, get us both fed (we have special food with us in our suitcases needing a microwave and heated water), and my daughter's bed time is 9 pm.
There was a sign at the front desk that someone would be back at 8:55 pm. This would be another wait, another delay for us - to wait in the lobby for 40 minutes until someone gets there to check us in! That would mean that the food is delayed, her bath is delayed, and we would get to bed very late, and we needed to be up in the morning early to boot.
I checked my messages - turns out there was actually no free King Suite upgrade for us, as promised. No king suite now? Back to the Queen Suite. Someone had booked that room before the front desk person could put our names on it.
Dang it! Now what?
My daughter, exhausted and hungry, snarls at me " I am NOT sleeping on a tiny couch! I am sleeping with you!"
The whole weekend with me getting no sleep? This is not good.
This is not going to work. Another guy walks into the lobby wanting a room and sees that there is no one at the front desk. He says that there are a lot of hotels around here - good ones - with 2 beds - and someone working the front desk right now. He leaves the hotel.
So I call around and make a reservation at the Comfort Inn, right down the street. They have 2 beds and someone at the front desk working, waiting for us.
So, it's now 8:45. We are tired and hungry! We gather our suitcases, are wheeling out, and a man walks into the lobby who obviously works there. I asked him why there is no one working the front desk full time, and doesn't he know that we called in advance to tell them that we would be there, that our plane was delayed? He says it's the way things are there. Shift changes, meal time, and that the front desk is not 100% covered at certain times of the day, especially between 8 and 9 pm. I asked him if they knew that a mother and daughter would be arriving, and couldn't they make an exception then, to be there waiting, especially when I called in advance? No. They could not.
He told us that we would be charged for the room, no matter what, even if we left to go to the other hotel. I told him to please not charge us, and explained the whole situation. He said that these were the rules.
My daughter was out of her mind with hunger and exhaustion, complaining, wheeling out of the hotel, saying, "Mom, we cannot share that little bed because you will not sleep, let's go get the hotel with the 2 beds!"
So, we left. I was charged for 2 hotels in one night. I really wish that they did not charge me!! If they did not charge me, I would not have written...
Read moreI arrived Sunday August 14
I enjoyed the place- price was very reasonable-
I had just driven 2500 miles in 3 days- so i was happy to start my new job at Cedar Sinai on the heart team.
I expressed several times i was interested in a long term stay-
That didnt really seem feasible so I transitioned my direction to AirBnB
Tuesday evening I added what I believed to be two extra day6s to my stay as I asked to extend through Thursday the 18th- departing Friday morning.
I am certain that that was exactly what I asked for- and got a verbal confirmation from your pm clerk that that was indeed so- therefore i wasn't worried about it.
At 11:30 0n August 18 was called by Glendale hotel to be informed that my reservation was expired and that I had no reservation for that day- and the room was taken. They explained to me that I needed to come pick up my things or they would put my belongings in a storage unit. I told them I was certain my reservation extended through the next day- and they said that it had not been reserved that way. I made it clear that it was their pm clerk that dropped the ball- but they did NOT care. I asked if I could have them move my things to another room they said was available- but they said I would have to come to the hotel to use my credit card!
I explained to them that I was at work and in surge3ry- and that would not be possible- to which they replied they would move my things into storage.
I told them that was unacceptable-
The clerk I talked to said I was disrespectful and she would not allow me to extend my stay in another room.
Subsequently- I had to call my boss- on my 4th day at a new job and let him know I had to leave to handle this.
So I came to the hotel and gathered my belongings-
I lost 4.5 hours of work at a rate of $135 per hour- 3 hours of which would have been overtime- that's a loss of roughly $800 total- not to mention I had to find a new hotel at the last minute-
This is the rudest hotel experience of my life- and I have spent many thousands of hotel nights in the...
Read moreThe staff specially Cindy she is amazing. She has a good customer service skills… she talked over the phone in a professional manner which made me decide to chose glendale hotel over the other hotel. The 15 parking fee is ok bec i saw the cameras are working. The house cleaning staff they look happy and friendly. There’s 2 male staff at the front desk i forgot their names but i think they need a bit of coaching, they tend not to be friendly with guest. Maybe they are new to this job? one of them i spoke over the phone and i was asking of how early i can check in without early check in fee but he kept on insisting early check in depends if there is a room available, i told him ok for example there is a room available, how early can i check in without incurring an early check in fee or do you charge for early check in?, he did not answer my questions again and he repeated himself again that early check in is only available if there is a room available, we were going in circles because he was not understanding my questions and kept on insisting that early check in happens if there is a room available hayyyyyyyy. i told him already for example there is a room available, how early can i check in?…. the hotel exterior needs a new color to be more visible. the interior it was fabulous although there is no sign or labeling for where the elevator is, it was just next to the front desk right side. hopefully when i come back they would have the sign for the elevator. the hotel location is perfect. they have an amazing coffee machine. hotel floor does not smell bad unlike other hotel. the room is perfect in size and style. maybe they could change the bedding color into more bright color for a change instead of always white. but overall our stay is good. we came due to husband surgery but hopefully next time we stay it would be for a real vacation where we could visit other places nearby. Thank you cindy. kudos to you. i left this victoria secret lotion for the cleaning lady. Thank you....
