ALDI — Local services in Goldsboro

I have shopped at Aldi's on a few occasions now. I have been disappointed in most of their produce. It looks old at times. I do like their breads but I find that their prices are not that great. I actually find that most of the items that I have thought of purchasing have not been a great savings unless they are on special. I am just generally unimpressed and don't know what all the hype was when it was learned that they were opening their store in Goldsboro. The store is inconvenient to access coming from town and it is inconvenient when leaving if you're going north. I do like some of the items that they have that are non food and on sale. I find bringing your own shopping bags are inconvenient and I find that keeping a quarter in the car so you can get a cart is also inconvenient and I don't see how it helps Aldi's that much to lock up the carts but of course we may have a rash of cart thieves going around or maybe it is just a little incentive for folks to bring their carts back to the storefront. For handicap people that have difficulty walking it is an inconvenience. Since the only time I actually go there is if I am on that side of town anyways or they have something I really want and hope that it is in stock because they plainly state that it may not...

If you've never been to an Aldi, you should know that it's not exactly like a regular grocery store. Most items are their own brand, though they do feature higher quality outside brands from time to time. They carry most staples but occasionally there will be things you won't be able to find. Best points about Aldi: Produce is usually excellent. Good selection of fancy cheeses, chocolate and wine. Great Prices!!!

Drawbacks: The Checkout lines can be long. Often the wait to checkout is longer than it took me to collect the items I needed. Limited amount of items. I often have to make a second stop for a couple of things they don't carry. You do not have the option of just buying one or two if something (potatoes, onions, lemons, jalapeño, etc...) and often at least one item in the bag is bad. Item options may be limited. I.e. you have to buy a quart of heavy cream because a pint is not an option.

I love this store they are very reasonably priced compared to other stores. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I see alot of bad reviews because they had to pay .25 cents for a cart that you get back after you finish shopping if you aren't lazy and take your cart back. They do this to keep cost down, and don't have to hire someone to collect the carts. In return for doing this with the carts they can have lower prices on food due to saving money that way. As for the brands these people are complaining about not ever seeing or hearing of them it's because they are a German product and tastes alot better then any other store brand products like Food Lion or Walmart brand's. You have to pay for the bags for the same reason so they can save money and pass them savings on to you with lower food prices. Don't let these lazy people make you think this is a bad store because they didn't want to pay a few cents for a bag and have to bag...
