Oh boy so where do I begin me and my boyfriend ate at this seafood restaurant for the very first time we went inside and it took about five minutes for someone to seat us. A young lady was just standing at the checkout counter she looked at the both of us and didn’t even acknowledge us. The owner came out to seat us which was not overly crowded. We sat downstairs he took our drink order after that he gave us a few minutes to look over the menu which was fine with us being that it was our first time at the restaurant when he came back with our drinks we placed our order my boyfriend ordered a fried shrimp basket and I ordered a seafood boil. After waiting for about 50 to 55 minutes a Caucasian couple came in they was seated right behind us they got their drinks they place their order for food they waited for five minutes and their food came out me and my boyfriend waited for another 15 minutes and our food came out. I was told that this was a African American establishment so I was excited to eat there in support but the feeling I got being that I’m African American was that our money didn’t matter Caucasians come first!!! Also keep in mind the couple that sit behind us her boyfriend or husband ordered a fried shrimp basket and she ordered a seafood boil basket and they ordered a appetizer. How did their food come out so fast is beyond me! When the check came my boyfriend was glad to ask for a discount that’s when the guy told us that he was the owner. He never apologized about the wait time only took $10 off the ticket. I gave this restaurant a 1 star but if I could have given it a 0 i most definitely would!!! Sticky tables waiter’s using bad language cursing out loud seafood was extremely over cooked I had to record it even got the staff cursing in the background of my video. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this seafood...
Read moreThere are very few places in Goldsboro that are open on a Sunday night and Pier 34 was one of the few options. Pier 34 is that strange architectural wonder in the Lowe's parking lot that resembles a ship and in my 20 years living in this town I've only been in once before when it was called something else. The Google reviews were all over the place and I was not sure what to expect but I was definitely not disappointed. I had one of the best Margaritas I've ever had in a restaurant! This is not exaggeration. I usually only have them at home because they are mostly just margaritas mix, but this one was perfect! I stuck to the appetizers and ordered the fried pickles and the Firecracker Shrimp. Both were excellent. The pickles came out fast... the shrimp took about 20 minutes but were definitely worth the wait. The bartender, Destiny was wonderful and friendly. You get the feeling that the people who work there really like their jobs. A quick note on the decor... it's a very large strange place that suffers from someone's decor decsions from a couple decades ago. And it could use a coat of paint in few places. But I'm less worried about that than the quality of the service and food ... Both of which were excellent. May be helpful to mention that they have karaoke on...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place but I highly recommend you stay away. When we first walked in a sign said "the kitchen is closed". We hesitated and were approached by a server who asked if she could help us. We asked about the kitchen being closed and she said no it's open that sign was from yesterday.
The downstairs seating is booth only and fixed table/benches which were extremely difficult for anyone with a normal body type to fit in. We were told there were regular tables upstairs so we went upstairs and sat.
When my wife ordered a coke we were told the delivery man hadn't been able to deliver soda for several weeks but if she wanted something "fizzy" she could have a sprite. There are 10 or so beers on the menu but there are zero taps. When I asked about a beer out server went over to a mini fridge and called out 4 available beers.
The restaurant is seafood themed and advertised as a pub. It was run down and clearly neglected.
When my wife ordered the fried shrimp we were told that they couldn't fry the shrimp but could saute them. It was at this point we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. I do not recommend...
