I am disappointed in this skating rink. We went on a Saturday night, and the cost was about average for how many people you expect there, so I was ok with the price. What I was not ok with, however, was the fact that there was nothing but rap songs playing from the music. They did try to keep the music clean, yes, but you could just hear the lyrics and tell that they were highly inappropriate for kids that were there (example: drugs). I get that the place mostly applies to teenagers, but there were also toddlers and little children there as well, so they needed to play some different genres. The music was boring after a while anyway.
Next was the amount of times I was so paranoid and scared for my sibling's safety there. There were people constantly running into walls and nearly crashing into others in the PARTY ROOM! I would see children trying to enter the rink and skate, and some people would cut them off and zoom past them into the lobby! This place felt very unsafe and I feel they need some health kits there. I have a feeling it's like that a lot.
Lastly was the time before we left when my sibling wanted to trade tickets in for a prize. There was only one worker behind the counter at the time, and most of the time she would be talking to some other teenagers that were at the stand. I could tell she was stressed out, so I laid it off her for a bit. But when you're constantly stopping to talk to others and forgetting about customers at the stand, it gets a little rude and annoying.
The only reason why this gets three stars is because both my siblings had fun either way, and the entire place from the inside out was very clean. That I was impressed with. Other than that, I doubt we'll be going very often unless...
Read moreI honestly don't know what to think of this place. The skating rink itself is fine... nothing amazing or terrible about it. However, there are some things we noticed on our first visit today that leave a lot to be desired and leave me wondering if we should come back.
The older gentleman (I believe the owner) was the one who gave us our skates. He must have assumed it wasn't our first time there, because he told me to give him my shoes. Told me, not asked me for them. I've been to many skating rinks and they've never asked for my shoes before, so I was understandably a little confused but handed them over. His obvious attitude and exasperation was noted and not appreciated. Not a great first impression, but whatever.
My daughter's toddler skates needed to be replaced ages ago. They were falling apart and barely functional.
The female's bathrooms were disgusting and in a desperate need of a good cleaning and perhaps a change of locks for the inside of the stalls. Children cannot reach those "locks" that high to ensure privacy. Surely the staff had time to at least clean them, as the ones I saw were mostly hanging around or skating in groups of 2 or 3 at a time. Not necessary.
Speaking of staff, I only saw one with a mask on properly secured to her face... the girl at the snack bar. Everyone else either wasn't wearing one or had it pulled down to their chin. Why ask customers to wear them if all of your staff won't?
Overlooking the outdated music along with these concerns, we may give them another chance in the future. I do enjoy skating rinks and they are a dying breed, but this wasn't a very good...
Read moreAs someone who frequents Roundabout Skate Center, particularly during adult nights on Wednesdays, I can't help but feel underwhelmed with each visit. While I appreciate having a local spot to enjoy rollerskating, the lack of variety and effort put into the experience is disheartening.
Every time I step into the rink, it's like Groundhog Day – same music, same atmosphere, same lackluster vibe. The playlist seems stuck in a time loop, playing the same tired tunes on repeat. Without my own headphones to drown out the monotony, the experience quickly loses its appeal.
Roundabout Skate Center has the potential to be a vibrant hub for roller enthusiasts, but it's missing the mark. There's a serious need for fresh energy and creativity to inject some life into the rink. Whether it's updating the music selection, introducing themed nights, or adding some flair to the ambiance, improvements are sorely needed.
After a year of hoping for change, I'm left feeling disappointed by the apparent lack of effort put into elevating the roller skating experience at Roundabout Skate Center. Here's to hoping they take customer feedback to heart and revitalize this beloved...
