Sad experience. It was a good 10 minutes before someone came over, but once they did the server was great. My experience with the kitchen and management was much less so. I wanted a Create-Your-Own omelette made without pancake batter with jack and cheddar cheese and steak (and nothing else). If steak wasn't available, I would have settled for bacon and ham. What they bring me is a Big Steak Omelette with all the fixings- not what I ordered. They take it back and I wait while my friends enjoy what they ordered. My omelette arrives and I've got it in my head that this was made with the pancake batter eggs (I have adverse reactions to wheat flour) because I taste flour in it. The management insists that it was made with shelled eggs without pancake batter. Fine. I'm turned off by the omelette but I still eat the steak and cheese, noting that it was just cheddar and not jack and cheddar. Now here is the kicker- I get my bill and it says "Big Steak Omelette" and full charge for it. I asked our server if they could change it to the CYO Omelette plus steak. She said she'll have her manager fix it. I get the new check a few minutes later and it reads: "CYO Omelette * Jack & Cheddar, Add Denver Mix, Add Hash Browns, Add Ham, Add Bacon, Steak Strips - Shell (to make the bill $17.44) when I only had the Jack & Cheddar and Steak strips. I'm convinced the management did this to spite me. I was done and I wanted to be respectful to our server and my friends so I paid and left. If I hadn't had to pay for things I didn't get, I wouldn't have written this review. I've worked in several restaurants during my life and this sort of service from the management is unacceptable. I also want to make perfectly clear that our server was super-sweet and...
Read moreI used to absolutely love IHOP, it was my all time favorite restaurant! Unfortunately, I will not be eating there again. Iâm from Maine and absolutely loved the IHOP in Portland. There were big portions, everything was cooked properly and deliciously, and the service was always an A++! However, my family has recently relocated and the IHOP in Goldsboro, NC is horrible. Theyâre chinsy with their portions, it didnât feel like Iâm getting my moneyâs worth, the pancakes werenât nice and round like the ones in Portland, not to mention they were way over cooked on the bottom, I paid extra for avocado on my omelet and I got 3 tiny slices and one of them was starting to go bad, the spinach in my omelet tasted old, the food didnât even taste the way itâs supposed to, and I was less than impressed with the service. Iâm not sure if our waitress was new or not, or maybe she was just having an off day, no hard feelings but she didnât seem to sure of herself, and she never cleared our plates even when we nicely stacked them and put them on the edge of the table. She wasnât rude or anything, she just seemed unsure which led to a slightly uncomfortable transaction. I wonât name names because I wouldnât want her to feel bad about herself, she could have just been having a bad day, and she definitely didnât cook the crappy food. I wish Iâd enjoyed my experience but I definitely didnât. I have to say, I do not recommend the IHOP...
Read moreA rating of at least one star was required to leave a review. What's not to love about IHOP? Today our service was unapologetically subpar. Our waitress Casey managed to incorrectly ring in 2 of the the 3 orders at our table. So, I awkwardly ate alone while the remainder of my table waited on their food. One of the orders at my table arrived incorrect the second time it was prepared so he felt that is was safest not to eat. After having such trouble with receiving the food that was ordered, we asked to speak with a manager.
A sloppily dressed man without a name tag approches our table and does not even bother to introduce himself or offer us his name. He semi squats beside the table and half way listens to our concerns. As we are paying for our meal we notice that we did not receive a typical receipt with the server's name and a survey invitation. Our waitress was unsure what happened to the ticket- as this was her second day "on the floor". We approached the manager James(who reluctantly provided his name after being asked twice) and asked for the original receipt and he shrugged us off. It was at this time that he asked, "What do you want? A number to call or something?"
I do not know where IHOP found such a lazy and indifferent manager but he is not good for business! If you decide to visit IHOP against your better judgement, at least make sure that James is...
