ZERO STARS I had a terrible experience at this store. Unfortunately I didnโt even have a chance to shop.
I was greeted and made to wait to have a my revolver checked in which almost took 10min for the younger gentleman to get there. Iโm patient, no big deal. I make it clear that I just purchased the handgun and I simply did not want to leave it in my small convertible while in the store. I had no intention of taking it out of the case.
So the younger guy that came to โcheck it inโ called another employee over(older gentleman). After putting a trigger lock on it and putting a chamber flag, he then says heโs going to take it to the gun room. It turns out after all of that overboard safety, they still want to log it into some kind of book. Why would my personal firearm thatโs locked and chamber flagged need to be logged into some store book?
I made it clear that I didnโt want people handling my revolver and that I just wanted to carry it around to shop. He still took it back there. And insult to injury, he had to carry the gun out of the case in one hand and case in the other hand. What if it would have hit the ground?
This is a very expensive, 100% condition, high polished revolver that I wanted to keep my eyes on at all times. So I follow him to the gun room to see what heโs gonna do with it. After he gets into the room he turns around and asks โdo you need something?โ With an attitude like he wanted to know why I was standing there and why I followed him.
Against my better judgment, I walked a couple feet away to look at the guns in the cases, still in listening distance. It wasnโt 30 seconds later that everyone in the back room is gawking and oooooing and awing at my gun. I heard a customer in there talking about it too. So I go to look and of course I see 2 employees and the customer talking about and fondling my damn revolver.
So I said no Iโm done. I want to leave.
Then the rude older guy that walked me back originally passed my revolver off to the other employee that was there to walk me back up to the door. And of course he was holding and playing with my revolver on the way up to the door. He didnโt even put it in the case. He held the case in the other hand. This is the second time that happened. Itโs like these people are worried if the gun isnโt in their hand with a trigger locked and chamber flagged, the gun is gonna walk away, load, and fire itself. Itโs ridiculous.
Then to top it all off after the lock was finally off the trigger and the chamber flag out, the man refused to give me my revolver until I was literally out the front door.
I felt as if I was treated like a criminal. Is a trigger lock and chamber flag not enough? This is unacceptable. No firearm and customer should be treated that way. But especially not since I made it clear how important it was that I didnโt want the revolver fondled and I wanted to have it in my possession. I was clear about how concerned I was about the whole situation and the employees did not care. This particular finish is very easily scratched. I am lucky the old worn out trigger lock and key ring full of 100 keys didnโt scratch my gun.
I cannot tell you how excited I was to be in a huge store like Cabelas for the first time. I was beyond excited to spend many hours shopping in the store. I heard the mil surp stock was very good at this store. Unfortunately I never got a chance to shop at all. The employees put a bad taste in my mouth for the entire store.
Iโm not sure if Iโll ever go back. PS: I was over an hour away from home, therefore I couldnโt drop off my revolver before going...
ย ย ย Read moreI love this placeโฆ Iโm from Louisiana, but Iโve traveled all over the United States and Europe. Backpacked from the east to the west to the north to the south, mountains up in the Sierras, Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Minnesota, Canada, Ontario, Alaska, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Alabama, and Florida. Our store in Gonzales, now called Bass Pro Shop, offers a lot of resources and opportunities to see products that are often not available on shelves and at Academy and some other stores and online. You can search these items and compare these items across other sources, but by being able to go to the store and actually pick the item up and look at it, enhances the assessment of something before you buy it in any of these sorts of businesses. โฆand I recommend their credit card because the points pay off eventually that become valuable, just like a credit card that gives you these options if you choose. Everyone uses a certain strategy to help them become motivated to save the money or accumulate the funds to buy that particular item. A lot of people donโt like merchandising, but advertisement is necessary because we would never know about products unless you find them. The marketplace is a part of the global society. It may not be your cup of tea, but itโs the way the economy works, and itโs been operating like that for thousands of years. Many people may remember HERTERโs, a hunting and fishing and outdoor recreation store that was developed in the 1920s and 30s; it was popular all the way into the 50s and 60s. That store was obviously a precursor to Cabelaโs and pro shops. The display museum aquarium and prepared game animals displayed show people these magnificent North American animals and the dreams that men and women have had across generations, ranging from the indigenous people that settled in this continent, and the people that came from other parts of the world who dreamed of this vast new land where the dream became a realityโฆthe United States. Instead of living in a feudal society like Europe was, some parts of the world still are today, we have the freedom to travel and see and enjoy nature. Bass Pro and Cabelaโs brought that to our backyard in Louisiana in their own style. I appreciate...

I applied through their bank to buy a new tracker 190 tournament edition. My credit score is around 750. I make plenty enough money. I had the 10% down-payment for this boat which is $3,300 which will put my apr at 8.64 AS THEY ADVERTISE. well they are falsely advertising this just as they are using the big yellow box advertising $287 a month for this boat specifically as a sales gimic to get you there just so their finance company can call you back saying alright congratulations you've been approved for the boat and your interest rate is 10.40% and your monthly payment is going to be $415 ! ๐ of course I said no it's not either do what you've advertised or close to it or find someone that wants to spend $84,700 on a boat that's WORTH $20,000 new . That's right $84,700 is what you'll be paying on this boat with 10% down because they finance it for 15 years! They're already highly overpriced for the quality you get . About that also read the very fine print on their boat tags where they advertise this same boat for $32,095 then add tax title and license to that. These big box stores need to be more transparent with their costumers instead of putting it in very tiny print that you need glasses to read it put it all in big numbers so when people walk up to look at the boat they'll say wow $36,000 for this boat..no thanks . I'm taking my $3,300 cash and going to a family owned dealer to see if they have a better deal. If not then I will just do with out a boat don't need it that bad. To add to all of this, they will not negotiate on anything in my situation, no price negotiations, wouldn't throw in a free service. Wouldn't throw in a boat cover ( which theirs cost $800) if I were selling these boats I would love the "no haggle no hassle " deal too because that means I've overpriced every boat and there's no negotiations for you. Good luck to everyone in their...
