Well for the record, let's just say that I commend the restaurant, for not turning people away because of not having fresh water to drink with meal. Due to problem with city water supply, all they had was bottled water at no charge.
I believe, they could have taken the bottles of water and mixed up erns of tea, but that's neither here nor there! They did have sugary soft drinks.
My main issue, is the total lack of Quality and Quantity on this visit, (that I've known over the years), for it was NOT in place when my party went there to dine this time. It was the most disappointing and embarassing visit I've known to date!! It was NOT what i expected of a franchise corporate establishment of this magnitude!!
I brought family there to enjoy a place they've never been able to enjoy!! Ok, so we had to eat off plastic plates with plastic utensils. I'm ok with that setup due to water issue. But, what i can't understand is how such poor Q & Q got out that kitchen without a manager noticing it!!
The $32.00 dish was suppose to be a crawfish medley. Cup of crawfish bisque, serving of fried crawfish, crawfish au gratin, jacked up crawfish, broiled crawfish, crawfish ettouffee, stuffed potatoe, at $32.00! It was a handful of fried cool crawfish, a warm ok stuffed half potatoe, plastic cup of cool gelatinous bisque( that was more of a stew), a teaspoon of cold augrautin, a 1/2 teaspoon of salty chewy jackedup not sure what, 1/2 teaspoon of salty broiled chewy crawfish, a plastic cup of cold gelatinous salty ettouffe that was more of an overseasoned stew. The $4.00 side dish was a 1/2 teaspoon of tasteless grilled mushrooms that would have never left my kitchen!!! The Q & Q of the food was unacceptable from such a quaity business as Dons' or the Landrys rep. Pictures were taken.
The rest of the family was ok with food, not overjoyed like i was hoping for at the time. My fried oysters were pretty good! Not happy at all about spending $60.00 and seeing the disappointment on family faces! I paid for my daughter and myself!
It was the most painful meal ticket I've paid in decades!!! When i mentioned items to waiter, he said he'd check with manager, but one never came! I thought about social media, but i wanted to hear managements side first. It's a really sad state, when you have to pay for poor quality food in front of family and then go find something for daughter to eat, that wasn't loaded with salt!!!
This establishment would have been better off closed for the day, from what i saw and heard from other clientele! With my background, i KNOW restuarant Q & Q first hand!! They did what they thought was acceptable to stay open, but didn't take into consideration, the impact serving warm minuscule portioned food, in plastic containers would have on their business. And from what I've been told by other clietele, this is everyday Quality and Quanity at this restaurant....
Read moreThis town is small and packed with many authentic choices. Today I choose a Cajun Tradition since 1934... Don's Seafood.
The ambiance to Don's Seafood is very welcoming the moment you walk in. The host greeted me with a smile and definitely made me feel the great hospitality.
I had the opportunity to walk around and admire the classic photography and picture the place offers as historical markings. I definitely loved the full Gator they have set up in the main entrance.
I was greeted by Austin the manager as I explored the restaurant before sitting at the bar to enjoy Don's favorites! He gave me a great welcome and offered to be of service with any questions with Don's Seafood history.
Bar time... Kudos to Hayleigh who immediately greeted me and offered a drink and provided a menu.
The bar definitely offered a good variety of IPA beers. 🍻 A beer drinker would appreciate the options. 🍺
The Menu offers a rich history of four generations in the making. Thanks to Don Landry Sr. Who borrowed 400 dollars in 1934 to establish this seafood and steak house.
There is a lunch favorites and kids menu.
But I came hear for the dinner 🍽️... I recommend to start with the Charbroiled oysters... There's a young man working over the grill to ensure the oysters to perfection, seasoned with garlic butter and romano cheese 🧀. I must admit. The Charbroiled oysters made my night, delicious 😋.
Next I ordered a Specialties. The Seafood platter was my choice. It came filled with eight options and only $5 to add an additional sides. Awesome 👍
And of course let's not forget to add the buttered bread. Definitely 😁 a great add-on. With the bread I had to add a chicken andouille gumbo, delicious 😋
I admit... I was so stuffed, but the great service never stopped. Bella help me finish off the evening with another good choice of IPA 🍺 beer.
Don's Seafood 🦞 is an excellent choice and I would definitely recommend it. I look forward to my next visit to try more delicious options on the menu 😁
To the next...

Oh-Mah-gHawd!
When did Don's get so darn good?!! Ate at the Airline down near Greenwell St., by the old Europe Pizza, and it was really good - this is a whole new Level!!
The best part of the experience was how, umm, DAMN GOOD, maybe, just maybe, best service EVER! 3:30 pm on Wednesday (most SIn know this is Blue Hair special hour), Bri our most elegant, highly talented server is the cremè de la cremè; she also had backup help in which they played the floor like a duet singing a top 5 song.
In working for 5* restaurants, & 5* resorts, this TEAM was all over the service, timing, eloquence, and courteous as any brigade been served by.
Truly the food is just splendid, if not for the service, this is the star of the show - except for the 2 best servers in South Louisiana. Food and beverage - ALL of it, ideal, period. Sweet Tea, not under, not over - Check! Chargrill Yoes'ters: cheese goodness, buttery deliciousness; check! Salmon , veggies, sweet pots... BAM! Cooked MR+, glaze was just right!
*Note to the culinarian's at Don's... your sides are AWESOME! If I could be so bold, and I have no dog in this fight. A company very close to y'all, A La Carte Foods - really does a heck of a job in helping keep products on point per your recipe, plus consistent & easy, from one store to the next... Maybe you haven't, but seems like y'all have been growing, and as a family member of several generations of restaurants back in the day (40's/50's) - truly cheering fer y'all!
Thank you for...
