The highest level of service that can only be found in Texas by people that care! They took care of my elderly mother's hardware problem efficiently and economically. If you have an elderly parent or anyone who is not knowledgeable about computers living in Granbuy, call this business! They are friendly, professional, and you will be thrilled with the experience! That being said, here's the story:
My elderly mother had a problem with her computer that I suspected (I live in Virginia) was a problem with the fan/heatsink on her CPU. Not being aware of a Granbury-based computer repair shop, I agreed with her when she said she needed to take it Best Buy in Weatherford, which is hard for her to do since it's 25 miles away. She had to wait for a few days until her weekly housekeeper could load the computer into her car for her. I had called the Geek Squad at Best Buy, and, while unimpressed with the person I spoke to, described to them what to look for, and they assured me they could fix it. My mother took it to Best Buy, only to have the computer languish there for five days. When she called to see if it was ready, they told her yes. She drove back to Weatherford, again, at great effort for her, only to find that it was not fixed, and they would have to send it to Kentucky. She called to ask me what to do, and I told her she could send it to me, and I would fix it. Then she remembered seeing Action Computers in Granbury, so I told her to take it there and have them call me. When she took it there, they took it out of her car for her, listened to what she described, and told her it probably would be a quick fix, but they had to evaluate the computer first. When I spoke to them, they again agreed it would probably be a simple fix. They were able to get it on the bench later that day. They diagnosed that the compound between the heatsink and the CPU had deteriorated and a bracket had broken, and they were able to fix it right then with a $10 part they had in the shop. I asked if they could deliver it to my mother's house and hook it back up because I didn't want her to have to go through the same trial of waiting for someone to put it back into her house and then her having to figure out, with me helping over the phone, how to hook it back up. I thought the $35 home service fee was more than reasonable. They made an appointment the next day, and now she's back in business with a perfectly working computer. Important to note that she needed the computer repaired instead of buying a new one because she didn't want to have to learn a new operating system and didn't want the expense of transferring her old files to a new system. She has a Windows 7 system that works extremely well. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Action Computers! Everyone she dealt with made her feel comfortable, and they were THOROUGHLY PROFESSIONAL! Write down their number and give it to your elderly parent in Granbury. They...
Read moreLet me start by saying this is partly my fault for taking the computer to this business without consulting with my IT guy. Our home desktop computer started having issues. We had over 4000 family pictures saved on the hard drive. I called Action Computers and explained the issue and sent a picture of the warning on my screen. I was told to shut the computer down and bring it in. For $100 they would try to recover the pictures. A few days later I got a call explaining that another step needed to be taken to recover the pictures. This second step would cost $300. I agreed because we wanted the pictures. The next day I received another call saying they could not recover the pictures but there was one more option they could try but it was "very expensive". I was beginning to feel like my pictures were being held hostage. At this point I decided to pick up the computer and cut my losses. I paid $400 for absolutely no results.
The next day my IT guy came to the office and picked up my computer. Within 24 hours I had over 118GB of data returned to me on a flash drive. He said it took about two hours to recover everything I had requested off the hard drive.
Hey, sometimes things don't go your way. I just find it odd that a company in business almost 20 years and advertises being a "12-year winner" of the Best of Hood County couldn't solve the issue but my IT guy working out of his house got it done in a day. I wonder if Action Computers could have recovered my pictures if I had taken that third and "very...
Read moreThis computer repair business is the best out there. Chris is exceptional. His knowledge of computers cannot be matched. I had purchased a new computer and had another tech service transfer my data onto the new computer. When I got my computer back, there were no business files nor word documents on there. I was left with a business computer that had been erased. Nothing was on the desktop. I have used Action Computer for many years and this one time I had another business work for me. What a huge mistake. I will never do that again. Somehow Brenda and Tim hire the very best in this business. Chris was beyond patient with me and I was so panicked. He cloned my new business computer and took the time to allow me to make certain everything was on there that I needed. The computer is perfect. I am so thankful today. Thank you Chris from the bottom of my heart. Folks, you do not want to go anywhere else. Action...
