The Historic Granbury Square, located in Granbury, Texas, is a vibrant blend of rich history, charming architecture, and small-town hospitality. Established in the late 1800s, the square is anchored by the iconic Hood County Courthouse, a striking example of Second Empire-style architecture that remains the heart of the community. Surrounding the courthouse are beautifully restored 19th-century buildings, which now house a variety of unique boutiques, antique stores, cozy cafes, wine bars, and fine dining establishments. One of the standout attractions on the square is the Granbury Opera House, which dates back to 1886. Restored to reflect its original grandeur, the opera house hosts live performances year-round, adding to the town’s cultural appeal. Visitors can also explore the old Hood County Jail, now a museum that tells stories of the town’s colorful past, including legends of famous outlaws like Jesse James and even whispers that John Wilkes Booth once lived there under an alias. The square isn’t just about history—it’s also a hub for community life. Throughout the year, it comes alive with festivals, art shows, and live music events. Farmers markets and seasonal celebrations make it a lively place for both residents and tourists. With its picturesque setting, walkable layout and sit out outside

We went here during Oktoberfest. Granbury has a quaint and beautiful downtown with a lot of boutique stores and restaurants. The courthouse is gorgeous and one of the best we have seen in Texas. There is a music theater that was closed when we visited but will definitely come back as it seemed majestic. You can easily find a parking spot no matter how busy it is here as the square is huge and there are parking around the courthouse and across the streets.

Everyone should take a trip to Granbury and visit the town square. Most buildings in the square were built in the late 1800's, with historical markers on all the buildings. A girl's weekend can spend the day shopping and visiting the local wineries. Many restaurants to choose from. We visited a German restaurant called Ketzlers, delicious authentic food. The best part was the entertainment provided by a precious talented lady playing the accordion đŸȘ—.

We have had dealings with ken hackett in the past. He lied to us and told us things that never came about. We finally got smart, and got a store in a real nice strip mall. In another tourist town and are very happy there the lease is alot cheaper than he tried to get.. Bussiness in great, we are actually growing at a unbelievable .We need to look for a larger building we have such a large inventory. We know how granbury merchants are; if your start selling a hot item, next week every merchant around the square will be selling the same thing then you get in a price war, or they come to you trying to do PRICE FIXING.If you want to be sucessful, and have a really great retail store, you need to stay away from hackett. And move where there are good HONEST landlords, and realy great customers. Stay away from the plaza, and granbury cut throat mecherants. WE ARE REALLY DOING GREAT...
