I came across these rooms following a meal at the restaurant. On talking to the server about the history of the building she told me that they had rooms available, I decided then that I would stay here on my next visit.||||I stay in two of the three rooms Siena Suite and Jessie James. Out of the two rooms they both had things about them which I prefer. ||||Jessie James is by far the larger room, it’s on the corner and has a great view of Granbury square. The bed is a full size or a smaller queen but a beautiful antique, the bathroom has a separate shower and Tub. Furniture and décor is beautiful, but it lacks the comfortable sitting area that the other bedroom offers.||||Siena Suite, I have to admit this is my favorite. The bed I am sure is larger than the one in Jessie James. I hove how there was a separate sitting room with two large comfortable leather chairs, double doors take you to the bedroom. The bathroom doesn’t have a separate shower it’s a shower over the bath. The only negative for me in this room was that there was no internet. I have five devices and none would connect from this room but all worked perfectly in the Jessie James Suite||||There are some things that it doesn’t say on the website and to be honest I think should be. I did receive a letter two days before some of this info but had I have known before I would likely have not stayed here.||||ELEVATOR the Elevator is only operational during business hours (11am-9pm) while this may not be an issue for most, it was a huge issue for someone like me with walking difficulties. There are no internal steps, the only steps are steep steps to the outside of the building. I stayed during torrential storms and those steps were very difficult to manuve, you also have to think of if you need to drag your luggage down the steps. Also when the power went off and the elevator didn’t work I felt pretty much trapped upstairs.||||NO ONE IN THE BUILDING AT NIGHT Again for some people this will not be an issue, but there are three rooms here and no staff that stay overnight. I was here for four nights and during that time no one else occupied the other rooms, It didn’t matter that I was staying in this old building on my own, but on speaking to one of the restaurant staff she did say that if has bothered some single travelers, again just something to be aware of.||||NO MAID SERVICE This I found not acceptable, when I spoke to the owner she told me this is not a hotel! While I understand this is not a hotel as such their prices are more expensive that all the hotels in the area (I did receive a 20% discount on my four night stay, which took the siena room to $125 a night, still more expensive that the hotel on the beach) to me clean towels, trash emptied is not a luxury but an expectation at that price point. To give a room 1 hand tower per guest for a 4 day stay is not good enough, in the end I had to call down and ask for fresh towels and the trash to be taken out. Again if you are here for the one night it won’t be an issue but something to think about if you are planning to stay longer||||BREAKFAST Served in a Café across the square , You are given a $10 Gift cert to use at the Paradise Café, so it’s not the good hotel Bed and Breakfast start to your morning you may be expecting. The food is good at the Paradise although basic but the place is so dirty and the service is not the best, to me another disappointment.||To be I love this property and its been restored to a very high standard, the staff are very friendly and helpful and I have always had a good meal in the restaurant downstairs. I did have many issues during my stay which resulted in the room change, but they were all dealt with quickly by Robby the Owner and Kimberly the manager. It’s a beautiful building but next month when I am in the area I will be stay elsewhere. Pleased I tried here just the once but it’s not somewhere I will be...
Read moreSo the check in process was not explained prior to our arrival ( normally no worries, but its not an usual check in proces and definitely requires some explaining before hand), there is no designated parking for the B&B customer, just for the eatery...which was full. We parked in a spot with a sign that said city hall parking only, and figured we wouldn't be towed since it was a Saturday (fingers crossed) We finally figured out you check in at the restaurant after realizing their was no other points of entry to the building. They leave you standing in everyone's way well a manager is found who can check you in. We ended up taking seats in front of the restrooms to get out of the way of eatery customers. Not the best first impression. All was forgiven once we arrived to the room. It was very charming and it appeared like it would be a lovely stay. We deposited our belongs and headed out. Arrived back to the hotel around 8pm...to nothing but loud music and carrying on of the eatery down below. This continued well past 10pm. At one point I was awoken to guest/staff? Dragging luggage/ furniture loudly down the hallway from the elevator to their room..this was also after 10pm. I could literally hear their entire conversation. The rooms bed was definitely not charming. It was not level and sagged in the middle. Every time you shifted...which was a lot since it was impossible to find a comfortable position, the bed frame sounded like it had given its last. We redeemed our vouchers for brunch downstairs on our way out...wait staff was excellent...food was not the best. We...
Read moreMy husband and I just left this great place. We stayed in the Jesse James suite. Love the big windows over looking the square! If you're looking for a secluded stay, this isn't it. However, if you're looking to stay in the heart of the square amidst all the shopping and fun the city has to offer, this is perfection! Everything is beautiful, high ceilings, antique furniture, and I noticed right away just how super clean everything is. Loved that. ||Downstairs is a delicious, booming restaurant, with great, friendly musicians performing on both Friday and Sat night. Musicians were finished way before we were ready for bed, so no problems there. We were able to walk to Paradise Bakery and use our coupons for great breakfast. We also had an added bonus of a discount if eating at the restaurant downstairs. I'm terrible with names, but we were greeted and taken care of each day by a lovely strawberry blonde bartender. She checked us in, and went above and beyond for us the whole time. I have a history in the service industry and I know it's not easy, so for her to find time to do little extra things for us, it meant a lot. Thanks for a great birthday weekend...
