Out West Books — Local services in Grand Junction

OutWest books is proof that independent bookstores can still thrive if they are business savvy enough to offer local items and services that bigger outfits won't prioritize.

Obviously the selection will be more extensive at Barnes and Noble, yet Outwest Books has lots of items that are highly relevant to the community such as specialized hiking and biking resources.

I've also never been able to find postcards specific to Grand Junction anywhere else.

The staff is very helpful and friendly too.

What a joy to find a thriving independent book store that doesn't just put up signs pressuring customers to buy on the grounds that supporting competing bigger businesses and online shopping is inherently evil.

I am voracious reader so bookstores are my lifeblood and Out west is the main artery to my heart. Despite being a tiny little store Marya has separate sections for different genres that aren’t so overwhelming I get lost. There are separate sections for adult puzzles and kids puzzles, activity books, cookbooks and of course, my personal favorite, naughty greeting cards. My Family and I have been going to Out West for books since before our son was born. We love taking trips in to find new adventures, with the help of the lovely staff. Everyone who works at Out West (Especially the wonderful owner) is helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Never be afraid to ask for help finding a book, they'll even place special orders. The layout of the store, the selection, the excellent children's section, and the warmth of the atmosphere will make you want to come back...
