The mobile ordering needs a major overhaul. I had a very frustrating experience at Starbucks this morning. I don't typically go there on my way to work, but stopped in to get a drink for a coworker. Seeing there was only one person in line, I decided I had plenty of time. After ordering my drink, I waited and waited as the barista made TWELVE other drinks that were for mobile orders. It feels like Starbucks devalues the customer that is in front of them when they put mobile orders as a priority. I realize they make the drinks in the order in which they are, but when they are just piling up on a shelf for people who aren't even there yet to get their drinks, it's extremely frustrating.
I was late for work because of this, which leads me to the real issue here. If people want to order online ahead of time, I get it. My biggest frustration is that I had no way of knowing how long the drink line (and subsequent wait) would be. Had I seen twelve people in line, I would have known I didn't have enough time to stop, and would have gone straight to work. Since I could only see one person in line, I had no way of assessing the amount of time I'd be waiting (which was almost 20 minutes, by the way).
Starbucks really needs to rethink their mobile ordering operations. I'm not saying they should stop offering the service, but perhaps hire an additional barista who only makes mobile orders while another barista focuses exclusively on in-store customers. Or, perhaps display the number of drinks that are in the queue at any given moment. This could be synced to the POS software so it doesn't require any additional work from employees.
Unfortunately both of these solutions would cost Starbucks money, either by investing in more employees or technology, not to mention the number of customers who would decide not to order their drink if they actually knew how long the wait would be.
Either way, I'll be avoiding Starbucks until they...
Read moreSo, when Starbucks is inside of Meijer, staffed by Meijer employees not Starbucks payrolled employees, customers are not allowed to tip the employees which is disgusting and such an extremely low standard, for a company that pride themselves on standards. Absolutely no reason why an employee making a Meijer wage shouldn’t receive a tip.
I had them throw my drink out and I went somewhere else. I don’t support corporations that do this and steal from their own employees. It really sad so extremely low standard for the employee and for the customers. And for what Starbucks represents.
I was a bartender for many years and made $13 bucks an hour plus tips, Meijer should be ashamed, however is obviously very proud of...
