CHS Primeland Country Store — Local services in Grangeville

Poultry buyer beware!!! We have purchased fuel and fertilizers from CHS over the years for our farm/ranch over the years and in May of last year my wife bought a pallet of Payback layer pellets. In the past she had always purchased from North 40 but they had these layer pellets on sale and since we were buying large quantity of fertilizer for hay fields there anyway decided to get a pallet. Big mistake! My wife didn't get into the pallet in mid Nov because of existing feed on hand and all the foraging the do prior to cold temps/snow. Shortly after using Payback her flock got sick. She inspected the payback feed and noticed the some discoloration and bits of white mold powder. We opened up additional bags and they were much worse! Something out of sci-fi film (see pics over 20 bags like this!!!) I spoke with John the local manager who like any good manager referred me to someone else rather than deal with. He referred me to Jenna at Payback quality control who requested feed bag tags, and pics. After receiving she went on vacation and has yet to ever get back to me. So Terry Logmire her boss calls me and requested the same information. After his review he said "sorry the 90 day has expired....we can't replace or refund" I mentioned to Terry we had been doing the same practice for years and NEVER had any issues with the North 40 Country Companion product. In fact I had several bags left of theirs (north 40) from a year ago and compared with brand new and it was virtually the same. This all fell on deaf ears as it was simply to far beyond the 90 day return and naturally was our fault. According to Terry it was the difference in temps from summer to late fall that created all the black mold. Of course, no where on where you sign are there any disclaimer and I cannot find anything in all the tiny print on the back of receipt that no one reads that states a 90 policy. I was clear with John the store manager I didn't need the pellets until the fall but was just buying now because of the sale. At no time did he or Ashley his assistant say we only warranty this layer pellet for 90 days. In fact John gave every indication he would get the situation taken care of only to bail when I called him back after Jenna never got back with me. A very pitiful situation. While I am stuck with CHS primeland for fertilizer unfortunately , we switched to Atkinson Fuel, and will stick to North 40 and local ag/farm store for everything else. ...
