Palenque Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Grangeville

Recent visit was absolutely horrible. Mostly due to very very poor service. We had a large group, 4 adults and 4 children, so some delays were expected. But at the beginning we were only brought one chip and one salsa, I requested another chip and salsa to accommodate our hungry group. Unfortunately must've been out of chips because we were only brought salsa for an already empty basket of chips. As expected with our large group and other occupants that were before us, taking our initial order took time. After our order was taken it was like we were forgotten, nearly 1 hour 40 minutes for any of us to finally receive our food. We were never checked on, the kids ran out of snack chips and water/soda and became restless as their hunger intensified. We nearly almost physically to stop a waitress to get refills on water that have been clearly empty as they walked by multiple times. One glass dropped on the floor, and we requested a replacement, which never showed up during our entire experience. Once our food finally arrived it was basically carelessly tossed with no regards to hot plates and the children. There was clearly empty cups and no regards to refills. Shortly after we began to eat a waitress came up and asked how many boxes we would like, half of us haven't even finished 1/4 of our food, 1 kid was waiting for his to cool off. It wasn’t closing time, people were still actively eating and it felt like the staff was pushing us out the door. It wasn't just us either we witnessed several other people struggle to get appropriate service. One even got their food and have to ask for silverware and then wait forever to get their silverware just so they could begin eating their food. In the food industry customer service is key, even places Ive been with unpleasant food had 100X better service than we...

I have eaten here several times trying to give them the opportunity to prove that the cost of their dishes is worth the cost and they have yet to prove their worth. I will NOT be giving them another option to prove it. The food is sub par and the California fries were under cooked and dusted ,and by saying dusted that is generous, with overly cooked meat. It said carnae asada, but that was a very loose interpretation of the meat. The coconut shrimp was 6 pieces of Gordan’s coconut shrimp with some very thinly slices carrots and celery for $13 the taquitos were oily and devoid of flavor. The service from Leslie was good then the other waitress was absent, I had to go get my own chip and salsa refill. Disappointed again.

3/19/2024 well, I had some friends who wanted to go to dinner, and this is their selection. So here I ended up here again, and yet disappointed again. I ordered the ceviche this time and maybe it’s because I am from South Texas but this was definitely not ceviche. the shrimp was fishy and we all ordered water and my water was never refilled. I had to go get silverware and napkins for the table myself. The 2 what appeared to be 12-year-olds that were assisting couldn’t count after we said, there was going to be six people they brought us four menus. needless to say extremely disappointing on all areas yet again. the waitress had a scale on her face. The entire time was rude and has no idea how to have proper customer service. They must’ve been running out of refried beans because they put so much water in it. Debated on a single star. This was all due to the extremely poor service. There were 7 of us. We were initially brought one chip and one salsa. Since there were so many of us we requested another chip and salsa. We were brought one more salsa. It took a little long to have our order taken, but didn’t think much about that as they were busy. From there it went downhill. It took an unacceptable amount of time to get our food. While waiting we were never checked on. We had to stop the waitress to get refills on water (it was over 90 outside). We asked for another glass that never came. When asked for refills on soda one person was brought water. When the food finally came the plates were tossed on to the table with no warning they were hot. Still no checking we were okay or refills on beverages. The icing on the cake was when the waitress walked up to the table while folks were still eating and wanted to know how many boxes we needed. The boxes arrived with the check. Keep in mind it wasn’t closing time, people were still finishing their meal and the staff was asking for plates and pushing us out the door. This was the first and last time to this establishment for many of us!
