I understand it is a college town, but the floors and ceilings are so thin. Extremely heavy bass and music will shake the building, so that the furniture I sit in or the bed I lay on shake. Initially, they gave me a late night employee callback number to call. After a few times, you realize either the person on that number is extremely incompetent and does nothing, or it's just a box for you to send complaints to that never get read. After complaining multiple times, I am then told to call the police myself. Then after 2-3 times of that and a waste of time for 6 months, they tell me to begin gathering photos and video evidence of the issue. So not only do I have to police my own neighbors myself, I have to go outside, and record the music blaring out the doors so I have definitive proof of the unit that is causing the disturbance. I even had to drag myself out of the bed when I had the flu and stand outside shivering at 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning to get this evidence, for them to "talk to the offenders" and do nothing for a good 3 months. By the time it's all resolved, it has been almost a year and I am moving out anyways.
Other issues I find is that you have to inspect your bill monthly. They tried to sneak in a $25/month fee for a "poolside view" unit, when we didn't ask for a poolside view unit. And the view of the pool is nice...when it's not as green as shrek and uncleaned for weeks. Then lets talk about literal dog feces everywhere. Almost every patch of grass will have dog poo that is not picked up. Never cleaned and just left to decompose in the wind and rain. There are even instances of dog poo left on the stairs to the upper units. Then there are the partiers. Even though we were specific about not wanting to live near the pool, they placed us there. The nights are loud with partiers and loud music played at the firepit. You'll never sleep and have to learn to sleep with earplugs. But wait, there's more! The partiers will leave crumpled beer cans on the lawn as well as broken bottles of liquor that will be dangerous for you to walk your dogs. So good luck there! The dog park itself is disgusting. There is always many people who let their dogs go poo in the park and then not pick it up. Some months, there is more poo than actual clean green turf! That park is uncleaned except for good samaritan residents who have to clean it themselves so their dogs don't step or roll in poo.
The next biggest issues was internet. The entire year, they used some shady, off-brand internet nobody has ever heard of that they tout to be free, high speed internet...when it worked. Internet also went down for weeks at a time (at least 4x in 2024), forcing you to use hotspot to do work. When asking for reimbursement due to overused Hotspot fees due to internet being down for an entire week in 2024, their front office employee said verbatim "Even if all the amenities in Domain went down forever, we wouldn't be obligated to reimburse the residents for that". So in their view, even if all the amenities we pay for go down, they don't care if it doesn't work. They then said, wait don't worry, we are switching to a new internet provider. They switch, and it's another internet provider nobody has heard of, "White Sky". So they just go for the cheapest internet provider possible that cannot even support Video Calls on Laptops without there being some sort of lag. In the end, me, my GF, and multiple other residents just had to buy our own internet at Verizon, because what you get at Domain is worthless.
The front office workers are all students/residents who are trained to deflect any concern you have until you have to leave without anything being resolved. The property managers just stare at you from their little office and even if you ask to speak to a property manager, that request is promptly denied. So you'll never speak to any real adult there.
In the end, I was glad to move out. I tolerated living there, never thrived. There are so many other issues I had, but I can't even add because of post limits. I hope you stay...
Read moreOverall, we enjoy living here. It's walking distance to many things like the Keller Pointe and Town Center area which include stores & restaurants.
Pros: It's family and pet-friendly - I even see one of the maintenance guys walking around picking up dog poop left by lazy residence. The exercise room is great - clean, lots of windows and great equipment Lots of green space Friendly staff Maintenance is quick to respond Lots of closet space *good size garage and patios
Cons: ^ The main office is extremely disorganized. Nothing some processes and systems management wouldn't fix. And, in the staff's defense it could be coming from the corporate office. Not sure. In the last 3 months, I have endless examples such as having to re-sign my lease multiple times because something was incorrect. Many minor things that could easily be avoided if they were paying attention to detail. Just takes some patience on your end. It's a guessing game - new residence would benefit from some sort of document or orientation. How to set your garage code, how to use the grill in the pool area. I had to ask the mailman what my mailbox # was (luckily she happen to know). Spent A LOT of back & forth time trying to figure this all out. Not fun after you just moved 2 kids across the country. I still can't figure out how to know if you have a package waiting in the main office. Antiquated appliances. This may be the MAIN reason we don't stay here long-term. And it's the not appearance of them. They are OLD and broken down. This is the most I've ever paid for a 3-bed in my 43 years (and I've lived in the Gold Coast of Chicago) and the oldest appliances I've ever had to deal with. The dishwasher nearly tips over when you open the door - that's after you finally get it to close, I have to wash & re-wash dished (not cool when water is a premium), the drawers are constantly falling down, many prongs are missing, the bottom drawer needs to be lifted out to use). The refrigerator is small (esp for a 3-bed) and the door hinges are worn out so it swings open and slams against the corner of the wall causing damage and the freezer doesn't actually freeze (soft ice cream, veggies/fruit). Building is on an angle so non of the interior doors stay open without putting something in front of it (annoying) *I have 2 dryer vents - venting onto my patio. Hot, smelly and the added fun of other peoples lint falling...
Read moreFor those of you looking at apartments for next year; I would highly recommend looking somewhere else other than Domain. It seems nice from the outside, the amenities, size of apartments, parking situation; but it is by far the most unorganized and loudest place I have ever lived. The walls are paper thin and if you live on any other floor other than the top floor, you will probably hear your neighbors walking heavily all day and all night. Our neighbors particularly have kept us up past midnight and as early as 5am stomping on the floor, moving furniture, vacuuming at 1am. There are times when our ceiling fan shakes and doors have flung open because the stomping was so substantial it shook the floor boards. We have emailed Domain repeatedly to fix this issue after months of being unable to sleep, with either no reply or a very delayed reply.
My room mate and I are somewhat heavy sleepers. However, Domain generally is the LOUDEST building I have ever lived in. Every morning we both get woken up by some kind of sound; whether it be from people in the hallway outside, neighbors on the other side of the wall, the garbage truck that comes every single day at 7am, or the icing on the cake this morning :
My room mate and I loudly got woken up this morning by a maintenance person coming in to see if our floors were flooded. at 7AM. Both of us were asleep obviously and by the time we managed to understand what was happening and get the door they walked in and walked out. Apparently the complex we live in is heavily flooded (not sure why, when, how?) and there was water seeping in through our floors. This was followed shortly by an email from management that the water was out, which is no surprise, as we frequently get emails that the wifi is out too, so we shouldn’t be surprised. The email stated that the issue was fixed, but considering neither my sink or toilet or shower have any water right now, I would disagree. I witnessed people packing duffel bags just to get out of there.
Yes the clubhouse is nice, and the pool is lovely and fire pits are great. More importantly I would like an apartment where I could live peacefully. Neither me or my room mate have been able to sleep in months and are debating moving out just to maybe get some peace and quiet. I know some people love this complex, but personally, I think it is kind of a hot mess. I am not one to leave bad reviews but I think...
