I wanted to leave a comment but honestly I am not sure where to start. I used to be a fan of Petco before moving to Morgantown in Aug '15 - however now that I live here I can't help but write this review which I have put off for quite some time now! Please keep in mind while reading that I understand on some days it gets busy and service can't be perfect but when you're one of the few customers in the store it's different-and with over an hour/hour and a half before it closed. Feb 17 After me and my roommate had gotten off work we went to Petco on the way home. I had asked an employee for crickets-which is the only thing I had gone there to get- but he informed me he wasn't on the clock. That's totally cool and all but he literally walked over and started talking to I guess the only employee that WAS on the clock before they disappeared and I felt like he basically ignored me and my roommate. My roommate ended up having to ask an employee of a dog food company(a non-Petco employee) to find a worker because we had been waiting and looking for someone for a while and we were ready to go home. She found people somewherein the back and let them know that while they sat in there people were in the store needing help.. Now I understand people have off days or service can't always be perfect and I have no expectation of that, but after how my trips to this place have been lately its just getting old.
I'd say around Oct.-Nov. '16 I had bought some fish supplies that ended up being labeled the wrong price or put in the wrong place. I even double checked that I wasn't mistaken on the price. I don't remember the exact difference but it was enough to notice when I was checking out...When you're on a budget a 5.99 item is a big difference from a 14.99 or 16.99 item, but those things sometimes happen too. Who knows if that's happened to anyone else that wasn't able to catch the pricing...
Around the same time Oct-Nov 16 Another time I had noticed female guppies in the male tank and wanted to buy them only to be repeatedly told they were all males, and I was even charged for males as well which are twice as expensive(I know they weren't males lol me and another random customer were even discussing how easy it was to tell them apart because she was buying some also. ----I'm pretty sure anyone who breeds guppies can easily tell the boys and the girls apart)....if you can't tell or don't know then just say so, don't tell me you're sure they've all been taken out already when literally half of the 50 fish in the tank are still females, it's basically trying to call me stupid to my face. But anyone who can't tell the difference would have no idea
Probably Sept 16 They have guessed on the price of a threadfin fish I bought trying to charge me for some kind of cicilid because they didn't know what kind of fish it was--until we googled it lol. It was like half the price they tried charging me. (16.99 - 8.99 or something close to that)
I'm sure I could think of more things to continue this rant but after the few points I hit on this review has already become lengthy so I'll leave everyone with this, they sell snakes right? Well I've tried to buy mice from there for a while because my snake needs to eat. They have been out for what feels like at least a month and a half(being generous) and they still don't have any... At least two or three weeks ago I had asked an employee about this and he said they had them ordered just waiting on the shipment...but this seems like an excessive amount of time to just go without any food for snakes, at least for a "major chain pet store" - Nonetheless that's on the business/manager not the employee who this time was friendly and attempted to be helpful so that was nice.
There are a few employees who are very friendly and focused on helping the customer(at least how it seems to me) which have earned my respect there and they are pretty much the reason my rating is 2star not 1star...but over all for a large chain pet store I must admit I'm pretty disappointed. Hire some people...
Read moreI had a 3pm appointment with the groomer Kathy, which was a 25-minute drive from my place. The traffic was bad, so I was running late. At 3 pm, Kathy texted me, checking if I was bringing my dog and telling me that there was a 15-minute grace period. I replied that I would arrive in 7 minutes. However, I got there at 3:15 pm, later than my estimated time of arrival. Kathy told me that she had to reschedule my appointment because I had arrived after 3 pm. I showed her the text message about the grace period and asked her why she texted me about it if she didn't plan to follow it. She told me that the grooming would take three hours, and her off time was at 6 pm. I told her that if she had already decided that she couldn't follow the grace period rule, she could have just texted me, saying that the appointment needed to be rescheduled because I was late, so I wouldn't have rushed there.
At first, she blamed me for not calling her before 3, even though I knew I was running late. Then she blamed the system that allowed people to book appointments at 3 pm. I pointed out to her again that I had responded to her message, and sometimes, things can come up that are out of our control. I was late, but I acknowledged the grace period policy and arrived within the grace period. If she didn't want to do the job, she could have replied to my message, saying that she wouldn't be able to do it, and that would have saved me some travel time.
Then she told me that she would take the job but might have to do it in a shorter time than usual. Her responses were unprofessional, and I couldn't trust her to perform her job. If there was no grace period policy, I would have accepted the consequences of being late and rescheduled the appointment. However, it was unprofessional for Kathy to bring up the policy and then refuse to follow it from the beginning. She basically decided to reschedule my appointment when she texted me but waited until I arrived to do it in person. After I pointed out the policy, she told me that my other option was to pay the full price for a suboptimal job so that she could get off on time.
The store manager explained that because she is new, it takes her longer to finish tasks. However, I don't understand why everyone in the store found excuses to defend themselves when they clearly refused to follow their own policy. This was my first time scheduling an appointment with them. I am usually on time with appointments, but diffident circumstances arose this time. As someone working in the medical field, we understand that things can happen and people need to make arrangements to attend their appointments. Even when patients arrive a little later than the grace period, we still accommodate them. But somehow this grooming service is very entitled. I don't want to engage in an argument with them just to get them to make...
Read moreHorrible experience we adopted a young guinea pig and got her home right away she showed some symptoms of respiratory illness we took her back 2 days after we had gotten her she was lethargic and couldn't stand showing severe respiratory illness and my daughter took her back to get vet checked in store. They assured her that the guinea pig would bounce back and said they would contact us after she got checked out and promptly took the guinea pig in our carrier into the back. That was on a Tuesday I believe and by the following week I still had not heard from them so we drove the 45 mins to the store to see what was going on. I get in there and they tell me the pig was euthanized and was beyond saving (I was instantly heart broken) and then said I could adopt another if I wanted I said no thank you because if one was that I'll I didn't want another sick guinea pig to devastate my kids more than they already were. So then I asked them for my carrier and she told me they returned it to my daughter I told her my daughter only got the dish and water bottle back but our carrier was not returned she then walked around all the registers very smugly and told me theyd call me when they found it. It's been over 3 weeks I'm out a guinea pig my kids are still horribly sad over and they also took my carrier and never returned it. So now I'm in the negative and over 2hours of driving back and forth I don't think I will ever adopt from them again and I will not recommend them to anyone as well . RIP...
