I purchased a couch here after a few days deliberation with my wife. She picked out a matching throw blanket on the clearance rack and asked if they would include it, to which our very kind and helpful salesman James made happen. Upon going home after the purchase was completed, my wife had some buyer's remorse and ended up cancelling order the next day. Star furniture did not ask us to return, or pay, for the $14 blanket. Fast forward two months, and I check my credit while car shopping, and it has dropped 90 points. Upon further investigation I discover that there is a balance on a Wells Fargo account for Star Furniture. They, without notifying us, billed that account that had zero balance since we did not take delivery of the couch whatsoever $14.86. I called between Wells Fargo and Star a few times to try and resolve this thinking it was a simple miscommunication because I had not received any payment booklet or anything from Wells Fargo besides some vaguely titled emails that did not indicate I had a credit account that was being turned over to collections. Finally, I get ahold of the manager at Star and he quickly got extremely agitated with me and implied that I needed to just pay off my credit account and that Star has nothing to do with it. The entire tone of the conversation from the first hello was quite rude. Fast forward, I get back in touch with Wells Fargo to pay off the $14.86 balance and I notice upon confirming my information with them that Wells Fargo had the incorrect information on file in regards to contact info, address, etc. I do not know if this was directly Star's fault, but my birthdate was 12 years off. Probably explains why no payment booklet was received. Coming to a close, noticing this I decide to try and call Star back to inquire about how my information was so messed up with Wells Fargo, and the customer service line would not ring and only said "this call could not be completed". Long story short, I shopped for a couch, got no couch, lost $15 and a lot of time, was spoken to like a child by the manager, and took a hit...
Read moreUpdate to my old review: They WERE very nice to us when we came in and put a 1000$ payment on a couch... It's been over 2 months, 10 weeks exact and we never got anything. We called to cancel our order and recieved very rude customer service. Our sales person was very rude to us, and we weren't even demanding money back. On top of that, we reached out multiple times during these weeks of waiting for an update or to ask a question and we also recieved terrible service. I do not recommend this place at all to anyone, even with Covid19 we were told that our order would take 4-6 weeks, but never recieved any updates or info even after the 6 weeks. Terrible customer service, during the process and while canceling. Our sales rep has to be glad we are pretty laid back people because the way she talked to us and how rude she was, someone with a temper would have went off and demanded a manager. So, if you go in with money in your hand and you want to wait over 2 months, who knows how much longer, this is the place for you.
Old Review: We went here looking for a new couch. I am very happy with the way we were treated. We were approached seconds within entering the store. The sales person found out what we were looking for and directed us on a path. She then left us alone to search and talk. We actually ended up purchasing a couch...
Read moreBig shout out to Dorinda and Autumn of Morgantown store. Struggling to purchase piece of wall art for Christmas gift, from Clarksburg Ashley furniture store. BTW for those of you who, like me, assume merchandise in store, with price tag attached, is something you are able to purchase and take with you that day, whoa, nope. Told I would have to order it. I did. 1.5 months later, nada. Find out little more than a week before Christmas, not happening. Okay, given the circumstances, may I have the one on the wall in Clarksburg? Nope says Tom, in charge of decor. In desperation we stop at Star Furniture (Also affiliated with Ashley) in Granville to see if THEY have the canvas, meet Autumn at front, lovely young lady, who directs us to Dorinda who starts researching, (no curt no as in Morgantown Ashley Furniture) but treats us like a preferred customer. It was lovely! Long story short, we did in fact get the piece, off the wall, from Clarksburg. So often we see a lack of motivation, lack of respect for customer and deficits in competency in regard to retail trade. These ladies were diligent, tenacious and sincerely invested in their job. I was impressed and, as a result, will be more motivated to seek them out in the future for purchases. Good job...
