I have been a customer of this location since it was Big R over 17 years ago, as has most of my family and friends. And up until today I have had nothing but good comments, good customer service and good experiences with them. But today was the last time I will ever visit this, or any, branch of Murdochs. being a customer of this place, 2 weeks ago I bought myself 2 brand new pairs of boots, one pair for work and one purely because they were nice. Well working in the industry I do today was the first day I could wear the nicer pair, which seems like a random addition but will become relevant later. I was shopping for a Fathers Day gift and and a birthday present, but wasn't really sure what I wanted to get them. Thinking Murdochs was a great place to start, I wandered the aisles for a few minutes before heading to the restroom. Immediately upon leaving the restroom there was an elderly woman there asking me about my boots. My boots? Well I told her they were comfortable and I liked them and walked away, thinking she may have just been curious or friendly, as I would expect from any Murdochs employee. Well I walked to the firearms section, thinking I wanted to get my dad a new Elk rifle. So I'm standing there talking to the two members behind the counter, who were very friendly and helpful. They had actually been doing a good job at talking me into getting a new rifle, when super friendly elderly lady comes from nowhere asking to see the tops of my boots. I humor her, as I know I'm not guilty, and she points out that I didn't remove a small sticker from the back of the left boot. Well now I know what she's getting at and, being as I've never been accused of stealing, I decide to make my purchase elsewhere. As I start to walk out of the store a different person approaches me, this time a younger guy, again asking about my boots. Now I'm very angry. I have never been treated like this in my entire life and I let him know exactly my displeasure. And I made sure it was loud enough that it could be heard by any and all people within 30 feet. I show him the charge on my credit card, thus clearing my name. But here's the frightening part: They have security cameras, which could have shown I was never anywhere near the boots. They could have watched me the entire time I was in the store. Yet they showed a severe lacking in customer service skills and common sense. If this were my store I would be furious with the employees who decided to take this action. Embarrassing a customer and creating a very unnecessary scene should be the last thing on the list of ways to handle a situation such as this. As I said earlier I will never shop here again. I literally created this account only to post this review. I will be calling the branch office to also file a complaint as well as tell anyone at every available opportunity the experience I had.
And last on my list I do have to apologize. I don't know if you'll ever read this but to the two very nice employees working the gun counter I apologize for not being more pleasant, but under the circumstances I hope you...
Read moreAs a minority I'm no stranger to prejudice And judgment. This place tips the scales. My wife and I stopped in to purchase a new gun safe while they were running a pretty good sale as well and pick up a new pair of boots for my wife this past weekend and were treated with great disrespect. The brunette running the clothing dept was very unprofessional and rude. We could hear her speaking under her breath about us to other co workers and was not helpful at all. My wife found a pair she liked but they were scuffed up so she asked if it was possible to have another pair ordered and the employee acted as if it were a burden. She then offered to see if another employee could attempt to polish it out to which my wife said sure. When she brought them back one was a complete shade darker than the other. My wife was going to settle until as we walked to the register the older brunette began speaking under her breath again about us. We sat the boots down there and walked out. The following day we returned to purchase a set boots for our children who were not with us the previous day thinking we will give them another try. A different women working the clothing dept began to follow us around staying no further than 15 feet away the entire time we were in the store and never asked if we needed help. As I took my son to the restroom my family met me there as they were done shopping. Who came along with her....the woman working clothing. She began to "straighten out" the hanging car mats on the end cap that had nothing wrong with their display and then quietly told a younger co work to "watch those people". At that point my wife said loud enough for them to hear..."If only they knew you were a police officer maybe they wouldn't feel the need to follow us around the store..." much to our surprise they quickly walked away. Like I said before I'm no stranger to this type of behavior and treatment from store employees but man somethings just get old. Its to bad because we tend to spend a bit in a ranch supply. Wont be returning...

Ran in and bought a white Yeti, thinking it was a cooler, but when I got down the road I realized it was just a white Yeti brand box, not a cooler.
No big deal. I came back the following day, intending to exchange it for an actual Yeti cooler. However, as I was examining the coolers, a rather rude staff member Tammy approached me in the coolers and insisted the Yeti wasn't in a condition to be returned. She said go sell it on the internet. No need to get nasty like that.
I was very surprised– I'd just bought it the previous day, it sat in a unused in a new SUV (not even a truck). I had clearly not used it. It had gone from Murdoch’s out to the vehicle and back. It still had the tags on it. Not even 24 hours had passed.
This is my first negative experience with Murdoch's, and it was a doozy. The customer service was shockingly bad. It's a shame, considering Murdoch’s is such a nice store. I genuinely prefer supporting local businesses, but if Murdoch’s Greeley wants to let their managers treat customers like that, we can just buy a Yeti cooler and all of our other supplies somewhere else. Imagine if this was not just a $250 item, but a big ticket invoice.
Murdoch’s Greeley, I though much better of y’all and am very disappointed. I really hope this was an isolated incident of a manager having a bad day and taking it out on a customer.
Went to Fort Collins Murdoch’s and a polite professional manager made it right. So we bought an actual cooler there. Had to drive all the way to Fort Collins but that is okay because I got to discover the Fort Collins Murdoch’s. I will shop there now rather than the Greeley Murdoch’s. It is twice as big and very nice. Most importantly they have good customer service. The manger was professional, friendly...
