Nightmare situation – I never wrote a review on a company/experience before so I hope this tells you something. I was so unpleased I had to make sure others were aware. Please make sure to do your research and look into other companies before coming here. Hope this helps save someone.
I scheduled an appointment at Muntz to get remote start installed in my vehicle on June 1st. They spent 3 hours installing this device and after the 3 hours they came out to tell me they were missing one component for the remote start and I would have to come in later to have that last part installed. This was unfortunate since I was already paying a premium price of $600 for this service.
I was left in the dark on when it was going to be ready as I received no updates. I waited until June 18th to make my first call to request an update. I got their voicemail and left a message asking for an update on the situation. I called the next day at the same time on June 19th and was transferred to the supervisor and received their voicemail again and left the same message. On June 20th, I called again at the same time and finally was able to reach someone and they advised that they were waiting on that same part and have been shuffling through dysfunctional parts. It would have been great to receive an update from them on this before that 3 week mark of being left in the dark… I waited a little longer to give them time and called again on June 27th, 4 weeks out now, and they said the same story as I heard before.
At this point, I just wanted a refund. When I mentioned this, they said they were holding the part I needed for someone else and they could give me that one instead. I received a call back 5 minutes later and was told the part was operational and I could come in and get it installed. Due to the lack of communication, I just wanted to be done with the situation. They did offer ~15% off but at that point it was just not worth it. When I came in to get the remote start uninstalled, it was another hour wait. When it was completed, there was no “We’re sorry about this situation.” or anything like that. Their lack of customer service was appalling… I did receive my refund but will not get the hours of waiting at their facility and the weeks waiting on call backs. Read moreContracted them to install an OEM CarPlay system in a Mazda CX-5. Was told part was backordered but would follow up when in. After multiple calls to confirm status, someone from Muntz informed us (after 3 months) they only ordered one part and installed it on a different CX5 that was also waiting for that part.
Terrible communication through the whole process, and now after needing work done through our dealership due to intermittent issues, was informed that the wiring work done by Muntz was "chaotic" and "not what the tech was expecting to see". Frustrating to feel like I was taken advantage of by a company since all the work was hidden after completion and could only go off the word of the installer that it was done correctly.
For the price they charge, I would highly recommend finding a different company with better communication and a higher threshold for acceptable professional work. We eventually received a partial discount, but it was not offered by them and they absolutely would have taken full price for the job had we not demanded some form of discount. The guy I had an appointment with was unavailable, so he sent someone else. I took him to my car to show him the system I had, ( a $500.00, 5 star rated piece of technology that was shipped to me in a cardboard box. The actual product box with the name brand logo is inside). The moment that I opened the trunk in my car to show him this thing, he says that they do not install those systems. He didn't tell me why, didn't even take a look at the box contents. Although he wasn't hostile towards me, his lack of customer service speaks volumes. And it's not the first time that it happened either.
