Completely unacceptable service. Zero star.
12-27-21. Approximately 1740. On a Tuesday. There was a large party present when we arrived but the restaurant was not busy and half the tables blocked off.
My elderly mother wanted to eat at Perkins. The three of us were seated and our order taken by Emily. After our beverages arrived, we were never checked on, never brought a salad or an appetizer order and I finally had to ask Emily after 45 minutes when we could expect the food order.
Emily proclaimed, in a tone more surly than when she took our order 45 minutes prior, "I didn't take your order."
To which I replied, "You most certainly did take our order." As the other two at or tables exclaimed the same response. There were only two waiters working tables. Emily and a male waiter.
Emily returned to say, The cook overlooked the order."
Which is code for "I forgot to put your order in." Also code for, " I forgot to check on you or your order, and let a table sit unchecked for 45 minutes."
We got up from the table to leave and asked for a manager or kitchen supervisor. Emily claimed none were there and again made excuses about the kitchen. Emily, YOU are the waitress. YOU are responsible to ensure your table gets their order. YOU are ultimately the one responsible for the service the customer receives. I don't know about Perkins, but most restaurants have wait staff serve soups and salads and don't need the kitchen to do so.
We all realize it's difficult to find people that want to work, but if you're going to offer a service, then staff appropriately, cut back the menu, or keep the doors shut.
Never...
Read moreMy husband and I were in the area (we're from the Chicago area) we stopped at The Pancake House, but it was a long wait which indicates the food must be good if people are willing to wait, but we were hungry and had plans so we decided to go here instead, bad idea it took a while before we were acknowledged and seated and they weren't too busy, our waitress was not as fast/nice as the waitress taking care of the tables behind us she was very nice to her customers, our waitress finally brought our food which was cold, the bacon, eggs, hash browns and french toast were cold not even warm, my husband didn't eat his food and I ate a little bit of mine (required with my meds) she also brought our bill with the food, normally you get the bill when you're done. When we went to pay there was no one to ring us up after 5 minutes our waitress came to the register and asked how was our breakfast and I said terrible she said in a sarcastic tone really too bad (which surprised me), I said the food was cold her reply was that the food came out on time, but we're short staffed??? (Contradicting) She said I gave you 20% off your bill but with an attitude... we weren't looking to get a discount it's about the service, let the customer know ahead of time (we're short on staff but we'll take good care of you) but having a bad attitude is unacceptable! We went to Starbucks down the street and were greeted with a smile! If I could I'd give this place...
Read moreHard to believe this restaurant is still in business. Arrived at 2 pm, only a few cars in parking a lot. Walked in, no employees to be seen, anywhere. Waited 2-3 minutes, then a second party of customers came through the door, they continued to wait along with us. It was rather warm inside too, for a late September day. After another 2-3 minutes, still no employees to be seen anywhere, we stepped into the dining room, only a few tables were occupied. One of our group then walked into the kitchen to see if any one was there, that got their attention, OSHA rules ? A waitress came out and got us seated. We needed a minute or two to study the menu and conveyed that to the waitress. After ten minutes, we flagged her down, she took our order, and brought our beverages. There was enough coffee residue on the outside of the coffee pot to fill half a cup, disgusting. Then we began to notice all the food scraps on the floor under our and many nearby tables. About that time a large party came in with two dogs and were seated nearby. We wondered if they come in frequently so that their dogs can fill up (saves a lot of $ on gourmet dog cuisine ..... ). We finished eating and waited and waited, no check. We got up and headed towards the door, that got their attention, the waitress came running and plopped down our check just as the cashier came along. Hard to believe this restaurant is still in...
