Here's the backstory, of this review...
My wife and I went to World of Birds in Chester NJ, got treated like crap, and ended up at Birds by Joe...
To see my review of World of Birds, check it out on Yelp...
Now to the review of Birds by Joe..
My wife and I walked into the store, and was greeted by a well equipped bird store, everything a bird might need was there..
We walked to the back of the store, a separate glassed off room, and was met by Joe and Mary, first impressions, both very nice, also the room had a very impressive selection of birds..
We then let them know what we were looking for, and explained our loss, of our bird to them..
They answered, every question we had, and when my wife, turned her attention to a Conure, we were given every needed to know fact about the bird, their knowledge, on the bird, was very impressive. .
After discussing the price, a very good price was offered for the bird by Joe, when I say it was unexpected, i am not understating it..
We immediately accepted the price, and also purchased a beautiful cage..
Our bird is not yet ready to come home with us, due to its age, but that was ok, as it will allow us time to fully pay for the bird, which will be in two months..
And the best part is, until we take the Conure home, Joe told us, we can visit it, anytime, as many times a week, as we want...how do you beat that..
You know what that says, about Joe, he's a good guy, and the kind of person you want handling your birds needs and care..
Do not waste your time going anywhere else, ESPECIALLY NOT, World of Birds...unless that is, you want to be treated like crap...
Birds by Joe, is the only place you need to know..
UPDATE.... 08/25/15
i haven't visited this review, lately, so i thought i would update it..
Since our second Conure, we bought a third Golden Conure, AND also 2 Blue and Gold Macaws, a Green Wing Macaw, and a Catalina Macaw. .check out the picture of the Macaws..
Within 2 months, we will be picking up 2 Scarlet Macaws
Again THANK YOU Joe, of Birds By Joe, and another, UP YOURS, World of Birds of Chester...
Read moreI thought this store was great and don’t get me wrong it kind of is but the owners? not so much..i’m not saying they don’t care for the birds just in reference to their attitudes.
The first time I went there I was helped by one of the employees tommy, he’s very helpful and was recommending me a bunch of things on how to take care of my bird since this was my first bird.
So I call back a week after to ask tommy a question and the owners wife answers ( i’m going to leave out the nasty comments made by the owners as they aren’t appropriate) and says I can’t speak to tommy cause employees don’t answer the phone we(owners) do.
I say okay thank you and the response I get is “so if tommy doesn’t work here anymore you won’t speak to anyone else” and I politely declined because I really wanted to speak to tommy because he had great customer service and she hung up the phone on me as I was responding.
So I called back to make sure she didn’t treat one of her customers like that and the owner(Joe) answers and confirmed she hung up the phone on me and said we are the owners not tommy, you have a question you ask us not him. so I ask is this how you treat your customers because he was saying rude things. you have a employee that’s so good, with elite customer service skills and I want to speak to him you get rude on the phone and he says yes, this is not tommy’s phone if you have a question only my wife and I are answering it so I say okay and end the conversation as it wasn’t worth it to continue because they clearly weren’t understanding my point, and were proving my point as to why I only was comfortable speaking with tommy.
I love the bird tommy sold my girlfriend and I though his name is kiwi and would recommend when you shop here to ask for tommy as he is a great help and very...
Read moreMy 2 sons (15 and 12 years old) were looking for a macaw. We had watched several videos and spent countless hours researching different types of birds. We visited other bird stores closer to our home and even considered putting money down. However, something felt wrong...we never felt comfortable at these other places.
I reached out to Joe one night, right before closing time and he gave me an honest answer to all my questions. He encouraged me to stop in anytime with my kids.
Fast forward a few days later.... We stopped in first thing Friday morning. We drove 35 minutes and literally walked in 3 minutes after the store was opened. We were greeting within 30 seconds of walking in the door by JOE, who was feeding the baby birds in the the bird room. I shook his hand and reminded him of our conversation a few nights prior. He remembered our discussion and encouraged us to look around. We looked at all the different birds and he answered all our questions while feeding the babies and his employees went about their normal cleaning and straightening up.
The place is clean ! Joe never pushed us to purchase a single bird , a single species, not even a cage, he simply provided advice and insight. He spent over 30 minutes with my kids as they fired away with a ton of questions. He spent the time showing them and explaining bird behavior as they held different birds. My 12 year old son(who is very uneasy around anything other than humans) walked up to JOE and told him how clean and what a great variety of birds he has.
We ended up leaving without purchasing a bird, because we need to prepare our house a bit. Joe told both my kids to email him with any questions. We will be back soon to purchase a baby bird!
Overall great experience. It was the highlight of...
