I must say this is the BEST SUSHI & OVERALL CASUAL RESTAURANT that is family owned with a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The place is amazingly CLEAN and extremely well decorated w a classy personal touch w the owner Annies gifted taste in decor. The place is immaculate down to the bathroom which is just as amazingly clean and very well decorated. The place has style culture flare that is entertaining and interesting. Annie has designed many of restaurants in Asia for almost her whole life for others. She went on a limb and poured her heart, soul, passion into opening a place of her own. We go eat at this restaurant at minimum of 2 x week. Since the first day that I walked in Annie and her husband Joe welcomed myself and my family with warm open eyes and a personal touch by coming to my table and offering suggestions. To this day when I walk in the door I feel I am at home. I wish I had enough time and money to eat there every night and not worry about making another meal ever. Annie or the sushi chefs will make up special dishes on occasion to let us try new things. They are very accommodating to help suggest things all the time and I am sure if you want something just ask. I feel at home when I am there. THE FOOD IS AMAZING ! THE PORTIONS Are EXTREMELY GENEROUS ! THIS IS THE BEST QUALITY FOOD AND atmosphere you can get anywhere in the world! I mean that .. Annie & Joe are there every night to ensure each and every customer is well taken care of and they feel at home and comfortable. I cant ay enough about the food, the owners, the staff, and the atmosphere of the restaurant. They have such a unique culture atmosphere is is very interesting to just sit there and look around. I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD IN MY MIND TO THE DAY DAY I CAN GO BACK THERE AND EAT!!!! LOVE THIS PLACE AND THE...
Read moreDecided to stop in here for dinner while I waited to pick up my daughter at a party she attending across the street.
The atmosphere was nice. When you first walk in, it seems like it is small but they do have additional seating on the other side of the wall. I was seated immediately as it wasn't very busy when I stopped in on a Saturday evening around 6pm.
They served me with water, a hot wet nap on a plate to wipe my hands & napkin, fork, and nice black chopsticks on a plate.
They have a variety of dishes on the menu to choose from (ramen, hibachi, sushi, Pokébowl, etc) as well as boba! My main visit was to try the sushi.
I ordered the sushi donut & Hawaiian Pokébowl for a party of 1 in the corner booth they seated me in in the main floor.
Presentation for the sushi donut was really pretty. Eel & mango sauce made up the branches/flowers. I wasn't expecting the donut to be big, but to me, it was. Spicy Tuna lined the inside with rice, mango, shrimp, tuna, avocado & salmon on top. They provided you with a knife to cut it into pieces. Overall, I thought it was good.
The Hawaiian Pokébowl was pricey, but well worth the money. The portion was huge! Presentation was nice as well. Photo did not eat first, lol as I started to dig in before realizing I should take a photo first. The textures & flavors of the bowl complimented one another. Everything was very fresh. It was very satisfying.
Service was great. The staff came around to check on the customers & topped off waters as they walked around.
I'll definitely stop by here again to try other things next time I'm in the area. My first visit was very satisfying. I recommend you come by & see what you think...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of trying the ramen at Dan Zai, and I must express my disappointment. The overall dining experience left much to be desired.
Firstly, the broth lacked depth and flavor, which is a cardinal sin when it comes to ramen. It tasted bland and lacked the rich and robust profile that is characteristic of a good bowl of ramen. The noodles were overcooked and had a mushy texture, further contributing to the unsatisfactory meal.
Moreover, the toppings were uninspiring and failed to add any excitement to the dish. The overall presentation lacked the attention to detail that one would expect from a restaurant specializing in ramen.
Service was also subpar, with a lack of attentiveness from the staff and genuine friendliness from the female owner. It seemed as though they were disinterested in ensuring a positive dining experience towards me but were selectively much warmer towards other customers they knew.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Dan Zai for anyone seeking an authentic or enjoyable ramen experience. There are plenty of other establishments near by like Ramen Nagomi in New Brunswick or the food court at H Mart in Edison that offer far superior quality in terms of taste, presentation, and overall customer...
