Sunmerry Bakery — Restaurant in Green Brook Township

A small shop with very limited seating. Inside is kind of cramped, but there are a few tables and chairs outside.

The Black Sesame tea was good, not too sugary (I didn’t ask about adjusting sugar levels). I added boba for an additional cost, and I’d say the boba were the star of the show. Very soft yet not mushy or fall apart. A perfect chewiness. I wish the black sesame tea itself was a bit creamier/milkier, but it’s not bad and you can taste the sesame. The sesame kind of gets clumped at the bottom as you drink it.

I don’t know if they have a quick-use oven there, but it would have been helpful to specify at checkout or with a big sign that the lava mooncakes need to be heated before eating for the “lava” to actually flow.

I ordered a custom cake for a party and the experience with Sunmerry staff from start to finish was fantastic; communication was prompt and clear. I needed a half sheet cake in a flavor (raspberry lychee chocolate) that they typically only make in 8” cake sizes, but the manager (Steven - who is wonderful - A+ customer service) eagerly said he would talk to their head chef to see if they could do a test cake to be sure and get back to me.

He got back to me in just a few days and said they could fulfill my original request, no problem. The cake turned out beautifully and was so delicious (not overly sweet, full of flavor). It was an absolute hit at the party. I had lots of people coming up to me to ask where it’s from.

I’m so glad to know I can count on Sunmerry for all of my future...

My family and I decided to stop by here after noticing the bakery was finally open after a Sunday brunch. The bakery is small and simple, yet clean and organized well with signs that indicate what each food item is (please make sure you read the signs and check the food first if you have any food allergies). The prices are fair for the quality of the food. We bought a bunch of different baked goods to try throughout the week.

So far, everything that we’ve tried is delicious and not too overbearingly sweet. My personal favorite is the matcha croissant. Overall, a lovely local bakery and I’d recommend checking out this place if you’re in the area. I’m definitely going to stop by...
