GreenHill Center for North Carolina Art — Local services in Greensboro

BUYER BEWARE! That pretty much covers my experience. I had purchased 2 items at their Winter Show. Show closed....next show about to open, I had forgotten that I had purchased them (amounting to a few hundred dollars but not top of my mind, especially since in the few decades I have purchased at shows at other galleries, I always received a call when the item(s) could be picked up) then when I saw an ad for the new show I recalled - I was never contacted to pick up my items.

Called the manager on a Tuesday (voicemail), Wed (voicemail) then tried general info line while the gallery was open a couple times, on the same Wed (voicemail). I received a call almost at the end of the day Thursday informing me NOT that they lost the contact info. I gave, but merely that it was "hard" to reach me without contact information.

In 2022, you can google my name and the first several results are amazingly ME. So obviously they didn't try very hard, having my money already why would they.

Losing my contact information, ok, we are human, then taking days to get back to me, well, that says a lot.

So, I would say, does a gallery that treats those who purchase at an exhibit this way then behave any better with their artists?

I may go back and see exhibits but it will be quite a while (if ever) before I entrust them with a purchase. So,...

Coming to this gallery is like meeting a friend's home in the Carolina's. Those who enter are greeted with a close-knit staff that intimately know the work and the artists of said work as shown.

This gallery represents and shows artists who have lived in or have some connection to North Carolina as a whole. The exhibitions that are made are thoughtful, provocative, and have me leaving thinking about the world that I inhabit in the communities that I am connected to . The board members, volunteers, and supporters of this organization are diverse and connected into the many communities in the Greensboro area and actively work together to build an artistic space where everyone is truly welcome and included.

It has been a personal privilege of mine to have interned here, worked here, volunteer here, be a patron here, and ultimately serve as a board member here. Visited GreenHill today 03/02/22 for the first time with my good friend James Barnhill. For those of you who don't know, James Barnhill is a world renowned sculpture and painter. He sculpted the February One monument at A & T as well as Lady Mernva welcoming you at UNCG, and the statue of General Greene here in Greensboro N.C. and so much more beutiful pieces around the country. Truly an amazing man was interviewed today about his paintings and carving that are a part of the H2O exhibit at GreenHill that opens this Saturday 03/05/22, and runs until June. Come out you want be disappointed, hey you can even purchase a one of a kind piece. They also have a boutique there as well.
