So, there were many things that went wrong here. We, the dentist and I, came up with a plan for my teeth that needed to be removed and signed it. At that time I paid $700 and received an assurance we were on the right path. So, I had many issues keeping my appointments made due to work so I kept rescheduling. During this time I received a statement in the mail saying I only had $300ish left. I decided to go ahead and work it out with my job to get the procedure done. When I got there they got me to the back and started working on me. I started to experience an immense amount of pain but waited for the procedure to be done. During the procedure the dentist and the dental assistant steps out and upon the dental assistant reentering I say "I am in extreme pain I just want this to be over and go home." The dental assistant tells the dentist and he gives me some more numbing shots. PAINFUL to say the least. They then finish the process. Once up front I am told I owe over $1000. I am extremely confused, in pain, and not firing on all cylinders. I explain I have insurance, already paid $700, and received a letter saying I only have $300 ish left to pay which I came ready to pay. As the time goes on and I'm becoming increasingly agitated because I'm in growing pain. So, she explains I have to pay and that I owe over $1000 and asked me how much could I pay. She drafts up this sheet of paper and gives it to me to sign saying they will take a certain amount out each month to pay this bill off. Mind you I'm in so much pain I would have signed my life away if it would have got me out of there, which is what I did. As the office assistant up front looks at my previous plan and current plan she notices something is wrong and does not address it with me. She goes around the corner to address with the Dentist and I want to say Dental Assistant (from what I hear) about how a part of the procedure performed was not apart of my original dental plan. She comes back explaining how oh this part of the procedure was "SOOOO" important and I should be glad they did it. She then states that I is a lot being explained and going on in the moment and pretty much I'm having a hard time understanding so I should go home, heal, and call back (not them call me) next week to work out the billing/ procedure issue. So, I gave it a little longer than a week and followed up. I was told that my insurance would not cover the additional procedure they did that I never asked them to do or signed off on so they were going to be so kind to not charge me for it. REALLY... Mean while I am thinking why wasn't the whold procdure submitted to insurance to see what they would cover. Anyway during this time she explains that I still owe the same amount as before per the signed agreement. I then ask for them to email me for an itemized statement because how you take off a pretty pricey step to the procedure and the amount is still the same. Needless to say it was never emailed to me. So, at this point I do not feel these people are trustworthy let alone going to give me the information requested. So, I anxiously waited to see how much they are taking from my account because I do not remember the amounts on the paper I signed due to pain and I work with numbers for a living. The amount came out and regardless of whether I can pay it or not I am bound to it because I signed. I have stitches in my mouth that need to be removed but do not trust them enough to have that done. I'll probably owe an extensive amount for that as well and they will probably add in their own additional procedure that I will have to pay for. I just am not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDuring the beginning of this process I was very impressed because I got an appointment the very next day. I was able to schedule a cleaning the morning, and this same day I was able to have my cavities fixed. Thatās amazing because normally Iād have to come back like a week later.
My first visit was spectacular, the staff eased any anxieties I may have had about being there or pricing. I explained that to help me feel more comfortable, Iād like to know the entire process and to be able to be walked through it because it eases some of my anxiety about being in the seat. I explained this to the front staff because I put it on my paperwork. I also told my hygienist and doctor. Everyone was understanding. Overall, all of the staff was incredibly friendly.
I then come back to my appointment to get my cavities fixed. This is maybe one or two hours later. The front staff was still incredibly nice! I was then walked back to the seat by a lady who I assume is a hygienist. She never told me her name. I am also assuming she was there to learn. Throughout the process she seemed to be unsure about what she was doing in my mouth, which would be completely fine if I agreed to having her there and helping. I didnāt realize she was going to help or be there the entire process, until the numbing shots were given to me. At this point I couldnāt express my feelings about this. I will also partially attribute this frustration to me being anxious at the dentist. Maybe others wouldnāt be as worried. Nonetheless, I didnāt ever give consent to having a learner present or helping. I would have also been more understanding of this incident if she was nice or talked to me at any point during this process.
The other thing that made me uncomfortable during my second visit was the lack of transparency from my doctor. From the beginning I was clear that I wanted to be told what was going on. As soon as it was time for me to get the numbing shots, the doctor told me to open my mouth, close my eyes and turn towards him. I hesitated and asked him if he was about to give me the shots. He said no, but I didnāt know what to say because it clearly wasnāt true. I looked to the side of him and saw the shot. I was as relaxed as possible until then. Iām also frustrated because he said that was for my safety but I asked to be notified of whatās going on for a reason. I genuinely feel I would have actually jumped if I hadnāt known.
All in all, my first visit was great and my second visit was awful. It felt like I went to a different facility. I have never felt the need to go back and write a review about a negative experience, but all of my concerns were avoidable if someone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me begin by saying today was my first visit to the new office since Dr. Lemmons retired. It was bittersweet because I adore Dr. Lemmons, but I wish him all the best in his retirement! The personal letter Dr. Lemmons sent out informing patients of his retirement and his endorsement of Dr. Hunt laid the groundwork for a comfortable transition for me and I appreciated their effort.
That said, I want to share my thoughts on the new practice and my experience today:
When I first walked in, the waiting room had been freshly painted and had a new look. The lady at reception was very friendly. She had called me last week with an appointment reminder and also to give me a heads up about new patient forms for Dr. Hunt. The cool part is those forms are available on their website and you can complete and submit right there on the site in 5 minutes or less. Easy peasy! I suggest everyone do that, by the way. If you don't, you shouldn't complain about filling it out in the office. I'm just saying... it only took me 5 minutes to do it from my personal computer.
For my cleaning, Denise is still there and, as always, did an excellent job cleaning my teeth. She also did a sealant treatment, which I did pay a little extra for, but it was affordable and the explanation of how it helps my teeth and gums was much appreciated! It was my choice.
Then I met Dr. Hunt. His chair side manner was professional and kind. He performed a thorough dental exam and afterward offered suggestions, with explanation, for my ongoing dental care. He seems both knowledgeable and trustworthy and most importantly showed interest in what I had to say as well.
That said, after now having seen and spoken with Dr. Hunt and the 'new' office, I am beyond pleased with the changes and being a patient of Dr. Hunt's. I will definitely recommend Greensboro Dental and Dr. Hunt to my friends, family, and anyone else that may be looking for a...
