The place is rather haphazardly arranged and there is very little room to get in between most aisles. It is to an extent that often only one person can fit through and quite often that isn't even possible, because they leave displays on the ends making it so narrow that you can hardly fit through without a cart, let alone with one. It makes it worse when you often encounter inconsiderate people who feel they have to take up an entire aisle in a regular store, let alone aisles so narrow and stay there for several minutes and chat, or purposely extend their browsing of said aisle, just because you are waiting and want through and they feel they are so entitled, that they shouldn't have to be considerate of others in the store. This is coupled with the fact that often the same types of people feel it necessary to mow down anyone with their carts that resembles a child and feel they can't wait 5 seconds and maybe say excuse me, to give the other person an opportunity to get out of the way. I can't even begin to relay how many times I have almost been run over by a cart, simply because I am small and look like a child! I am a little person and I am 27 years old and honestly if you feel that you need to run me over, just to get to that discount can of coffee, or bag of chips quicker, then you have a lot more serious problems than trying to get a good deal! This isn't ollie's fault I know, but we often have to cut our trips to the store short, because it is so difficult to get around. Another issue is the use and placement of scented products. We are both severely asthmatic and everywhere we go in the store is packed with some sort of scented candles, or soaps, or air fresheners. For people with allergies and asthma, it's a neverending toxic nightmare! Not everyone likes, or is addicted to toxic scents and heavy perfumes. Quite often, if it isn't the packed, narrow aisles that cut our trips short, it's the fact that every aisle you travel down ends you at a section of heavily scented air fresheners and candles. I will point out though that ollie's at least got 3 stars for a reason and there are good things about it. They do hold true to their motto and they more often than not have really great bargains. The deals are mainly on overstocks and sales from businesses that just couldn't make the amount, or type of product work as the money maker they thought it would be. For folks like us though, it is great, because you do get great deals on everything from canned pumpkin to toilet paper (no frozen, or refrigerated products though) and without Ollie's, on a great many occasions, we wouldn't have been able to get through the month. The staff is often friendly, a few lackluster characters, as with any place you go to, but in general not too awful and every now and then you do meet the polite customer, or stock person who makes the trip better and renews a bit of your faith in humanity. So all in all, it's an okay store and I appreciate the great deals, I just don't think that people should have to practically climb on top of each other, through the aisles, just to get to them. So for now they get 3 stars and if they manage to remedy some of the issues listed here, I might change my rating. I hope those who read this find it...
Read moreWaited about 15 minutes in line today. There were only 2 people in front of me. But one of the people in front of me had a coupon (15% off of the whole purchase). She had her receipt from yesterday and was returning her items to buy them back. When she went to buy them back, it said the customer owed money. So the employee, after bragging about how she was the employee to go to for this situation and how everyone else was slow, had to call someone. Since they couldn't do multiple discounts, after trying to override the purchase and give the discount, had to get another person. Someone finally came up and the second person said that register five was open, so I went to go in the other lane. She then informed us that it would "only be one more second." The person still had their purchase from today to buy, I informed them of that and she argued with me to not leave the line. So I moved my cart...
