Let me say that I frequent this movie theater a minimum of once per week. Always on Tuesday nights and occasionally the weekend. The recliner seating is the singular reason that I frequent this theater and have not yet tried the other one in Greenville. My most recent experience will now send me to the other theater. I am a Premiere member. A little $15 fee to get you a few perks. It is not a perk at this theater. This place is extremely mismanaged. Most of the time, there is either two people working and long lines OR 10 staff on duty doing nothing but standing around talking to each other. There literally is not a single time that I go to a movie here, that my snacks are calculated correctly. Staff are not properly trained on premiere benefits. Last night my snacks were calculated incorrectly for the 4th week in a row. A manager had to be summoned to correct. I will admit that I was agitated that it was delaying me getting in my show as I was cutting it close with a 5:45pm showing and Greenville traffic. I specifically asked upon walking up to the counter how long the previews were and was told 20 minutes. I had 12 minutes before the show started and thought this was adequate time to purchase two tickets and snacks (as we were literally the only patrons in the entire lobby area). Snack issue was not the worst of it. The person taking tickets would not let me in my show, because the counter person put my movie in for a 7:30pm showing of Fifty Shades instead of the 5:45pm . I suggested I would simply go on in the 5:45pm Fifty Shades, as I was going to miss the opening of the movie at this point. He refused to let me in and literally blocked the entrance with his body and arms, telling me I had not paid for the 5:45 showing. Of course, I was like "are you kidding me right now?" This was like the groundhog day movie. The only thing left for me to do was to go back to the counter and go through a refund/reissue process, which also required a manager override again. All the while a worker named, Chris, was purposefully antagonizing me by running his mouth to me about being in control of my time and arriving to the theater earlier. I suppose one should consider doing that for this theater since they make so many errors and lack direction in their duties to the point one needs extra time for them to get it right. Maybe I was less than perfect in becoming so aggravated, but when I go to a movie theater and spend the type of money that I am willing to spend for that movie and those overpriced snacks, one has the right to expect good customer service and an attitude of help and assistance. What I received was hostility and antagonistic behavior. The manager literally stood silently and watched this happen and did not once interject or do anything to get the situation under control. This was a very...
Read moreI love this theater! The leather reclining seats are very comfortable and roomy. There is also extra space in the walkway of each row which is nice, you don't have to worry about squeezing through or being uncomfortable while people enter or exit your row.
Make sure you know your membership status before entering a line to buy concessions inside. There is a priority line for the paid membership that goes alot quicker than the regular line. Alot of people are confused by this and complain when they see the priority line skip the standard line. It makes a difference if there are alot of people but not so much when it's a normal amount of people in line. I was able to walk right up in regular line.
I have the paid membership but honestly it's confusing and I never know the name/level of the membership I have so I just get in the regular line. I also didn't pay for the membership. I got a free upgrade to it because of a promo they ran earlier in the year. They also usually have a promo around black Friday or Christmas where the membership fee is significantly discounted. Just beware that it will renew at the regular price after a year. I love the reward points because it doesn't take long for me to earn a reward since my family of 5 usually goes to the movies together. I also love that I got a free large popcorn and large drink for my birthday.
Use the app to buy tickets, select seats and you can even order your concessions online (I've never done that but I've seen the option in the app). You also get a "discount" on ticket prices/fees in the app and you can easily get a refund for your tickets any time before the show starts if you change your mind. Make sure you check the notifications/messages in the app because there always seems to be some cool promo like advance screenings, posters, special buckets, etc...
UPDATE AMC sells a "mega bag" of popcorn. It comes with a bottle of butter/oil and it's only $17!! It's 100q worth it to pick up a bag for family movie night at home. It tastes the same because it is the same. If you can't eat it all the same day, I just warm it up on a cookie sheet in my oven for 1 or 2 minutes and it's crisp and...
Read moreI enjoyed the movie, the seats were very comfortable and they reclined, which was a huge plus! The sound was great. Be sure to bring a blanket or jacket because it can get rather chilly in there, which is fine. My only complaint would be the popcorn. I am that moviegoer who goes to the movies for the popcorn, lol! I love freshly popped movie theater popcorn. Well, I have several things I didn't like about the popcorn. First, I didn't like that they didn't put butter on the popcorn because I like to have butter throughout. I usually request for the butter to be layered. If I put butter on a full container of popcorn, then there will be mainly butter on top, and the middle and end will have little to none. Also, if you attempt to shake the popcorn as you're self-serving with butter, you will dump a lot of the popcorn out of the bucket or bag. Secondly, the popcorn had some type of popcorn salt on it that made it rather salty for my taste buds. That should be an option and not automatically added. I was certain that it was not the taste from the imitation butter, but it was some type of popcorn flavoring or salt.....maybe a butter salt???? I'm not sure. Then, lastly, some of my kernels were stale.. I spent over $62 for tickets, popcorn, and drinks only to be disappointed by the main thing I look forward to whenever I go to the movies. I usually go to Regal but had to go here because the Regal in this town is no longer open, and my mother had requested to go to the movies for her birthday, so of course I had to make sure I fulfill her request. I was highly disappointed, and honestly, if that hadn't happened, I would have rated 5 stars! It may seem minor to some, but it's the little things sometimes. This isn't my first time at AMC. I went to the one at Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, VA, a few years ago and had a wonderful experience with absolutely NO complaints, not even with...
