We came for a late lunch. We were told it was half-priced appetizers during the time frame we were there. We ordered 2 appetizers as a starter the pork belly bites and the fried mushrooms. Unfortunately appetizers sat in the window. We know this because we heard the cooks calling out, "Order up," but the food wasn't brought out. Which was kind of weird because there was only one other table in the restaurant and two people at the bar. When the appetizers finally arrived our server said, "Sorry the food was late I am fat, hurting, pregnant, and tired. I hope you enjoy though." The belly bites were delicious but sadly some of them were overcooked and hard. The mushrooms that my wife and her brother had I was told were good but that one side of the plate had cooled down. For our meals, I had the Greek Burger with French fries, my wife had 2 more appetizers the grilled shrimp skewers, and fried cauliflower bites with sweet chili sauce on the side, and her brother had the All-American Chicken sandwich and a French Onion soup. My Greek burger had a strip of burnt charred stuff from the flat top and it was missing the Fêta cheese. When the Fêta cheese was brought out we were told that it was the last of the Fêta cheese in the whole restaurant. I had asked for extra crispy fries and they were spot on. My wife's fried cauliflower she ordered was brought to the table and our server told us they didn't put the sauce on the side did we still want them or did we want them to be recooked? We asked for them to be recooked. My wife tried the shrimp skewers and they were spicy and overcooked. My wife cannot eat spicy food due to having gastric sleeve surgery. So when our server returned she sent them back and she asked for the pork belly bites again because she enjoyed the pieces that were not overcooked. As for the cauliflower bites, we heard the waitress say the sauce was supposed to be on the side. We assume that meant the first recook they put the sauce over the bites again. When the cauliflower bites finally arrived at our table they were really hot and very greasy. We believe they were not drained long enough. The pork belly bites were overcooked even more than the first batch. My brother-in-law's chicken sandwich was a bit dry and his soup seemed to be low on liquid. They finally cut on music for the restaurant when we were more than halfway done with our meal. Unfortunately, they turned the volume up even more after turning it on. The music was so loud I could barely hear my wife, who was sitting next to me, talk to me. When my drink ran out I asked the waitress for more. She said she would bring it. It never came. My wife had to give me some of her water so I could continue to eat. Overall while the food was quite tasty, the poor service, overcooked food, and very loud music detracted from...
Read moreNot impressed with Seared Chophouse what so ever. I hope the manager realizes that when you have an open kitchen, with tables close by, that we can hear just about everything. I'm not much for assumptions, but after sitting on this one for some time, I decided it bothered me enough to post.
Friend of mines son was being a bit unruly at dinner. My friend spanked him a few times to straighten him up, and I noticed the looks from the peanut gallery from the start, but I didn't say anything. A while later, after we were waiting an extended period of time for our food, my friends son starts acting up again. Again, my friend spanks him. However, this time a comment was made and a group of the workers were making faces in our general direction. The comment was along the lines of "if she hits that child one more time...I can't stand the way they parent their kids." Mind you, my friend is black, so I took this as a racial comment. I'm pretty disgusted, and had I let our table know of the comment prior to this post, they may have drug her out of the restaurant. I understand this is a controversial topic, but I wanted something to be said because it was highly distasteful and inappropriate of her. I didn't complain after dinner, which was mediocre at best, because I found out she was the manager. It would have gone nowhere. With that said, we just will not be back.
I found out recently that this establishment is also owned by the owner of Nash. This did not surprise me, seeing as we have had issues their as well. After seeing roaches in a crevice by some wood podium, and the bathrooms not being accessible with a changing station, we have not been back there as well. Our server that night also had a negative attitude. So I am not shocked to see that this owner would employ the same ignorance on his management team in his other establishment.
We will no longer be back to either, and I hope this post reaches who it needs to. It's 2023, I thought we left racism in the past a...
Read moreHubby and I have been on the hunt for a great quality steakhouse since we moved to enc years ago. Seared was recommended by a friend. The spinach dip appetizer was the best spinach dip I’ve ever had.
The grilled asparagus was great, too. Well seasoned and cooked to just the right crispness.
My son ordered the country fried chicken which met his approval. The chicken looked juicy and the saw mill gravy looked great.
My husband and I ordered medium rare ribeyes (I got the 12 oz and he got the 16 oz). I would say his was cooked perfectly and mine was more medium to medium well. It still had a good flavor, but was a little too done for my taste. They were busy with a couple of larger parties and by the time our server checked back in with us, the rest of my family was nearing being finished with their food. Long story short, I didn’t send the steak back. Normally at $32-34 per plate, I would have sent it back, but on a Monday night when they were busy, we just didn’t have that kind of time.
The mashed potatoes were clearly made from scratch and had great texture, but lacked any flavor at all.
Our server was courteous and the atmosphere was nice. I personally think the meals are slightly over priced, but in a time of pandemic and a new business, I can understand the higher price point and it’s nice to have the option for special occasions. Despite my steak being over cooked, this was still the best steak I’ve had in Greenville.
We do plan on trying them out again and would say to others that they are certainly worth a shot if you’re on the hunt for a better steak than is offered at the National chain restaurants...
