I have been coming to Tie-Breakers for quite a few years now and have always received fast and efficient service, even on big game nights. Recently, I moved to Goldsboro and tonight I was included in a party of 6 that traveled an hour to eat at my “favorite local burger place” in Greenville to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday. Boy, am I embarrassed. Not only did it take our server over 10 minutes to even get our drink order, we watched during those 10 minutes as she flitted around playing with her hair and chatting with the hostesses instead of checking on her tables (we were not the only ones being neglected at this point). When she finally made her way to us, we put in appetizers that took well over 30 minutes to come out, most incomplete. It is worth noting that by this time, the restaurant had died down significantly, and around 8 tables that were in our waitresses section had left. We had to flag her down for refills on our drinks multiple times. It was a guessing game whether those refills would actually make it to our table. After another significant wait for our meals, they came out made incorrectly, missing ingredients, and many only lukewarm/cold. The waitress got her “manager” that we had seen earlier in the night checking on tables across the restaurant but conveniently ignoring ours. He listened to some of our frustrations (explaining everything would have taken forever) and let us know the waitress is new, offered a discount on one of the burgers that was made incorrectly, and offered a free dessert to the birthday girl. While the manager was talking to our table, the burger came back out still made incorrectly!! Someone in the kitchen had scraped off the chili and sent it back out. We had to take the bun off the burger for the manager to believe us. At this point he took it back again while the rest of our party ate our now cold food and this member of our party had to wait for her food to be made again. Most of the dissatisfaction should have ended here, but when the checks came we noticed we had been charged for extra ranches and sauces we never received. I am beyond disappointed in our experience and embarrassed for recommending it. I have NEVER seen Tie-Breakers service and food this horrible! The manager we spoke to was very friendly and apologetic, but clearly could not identify the issues happening directly in front of his face. For that reason only, I decided to be generous with 3 stars. I will always have a place for Tie-Breakers in my heart, but after tonight I can never in good conscience recommend it to...
Read moreAfter seeing an advertisement on tv, I decided to try their food. I was at Lowe's on Hwy 11 when I thought about the restaurant, so I Googled it to get information. Considering how far I was going to have to drive to get to the restaurant, I went to their website to place a takeout order. However, my plan failed because the site wouldn't allow me to order. The word "offline" appeared in the background of the page. I was still determined to eat their food, so I drove to the location off Fire Tower Road.
I was pleasantly greeted when I entered the door. I told the hostess I wanted to order takeout so she asked me to step to the side of the counter and asked me what I wanted. I informed her that it was my first time visiting and needed to see a menu. There were several ladies behind the counter during my visit and I'm not sure which one did what during my interactions. After I placed my order, a lady told me where I needed to sit while waiting. My food was handed to me in about 25 minutes. I asked for a menu I could carry with me but the lady informed me that there were none available. When I got to my vehicle and was excited to taste the food, I realized that there were no eating utensils, no napkins, and the dressing for the fried peppers/jalapeños was missing. I had to go back inside to obtain these items.
Although the burger I ordered was described as being their best seller, it was nothing extraordinary to me. I expected a lot more considering it was my first time eating fried green tomatoes and having pimento cheese on a burger and the price of it. The fries were supposed to be Cajun seasoned but weren't seasoned at all to me, and there weren't many of them. The fried peppers/jalapeños tasted very good!
My first experience with Tie Breakers was not as good as I had hoped it would be. Considering the size of the burger, the quantity of the fries, the taste of both items, and the cost, I was disappointed. If given the option of this same burger & fries versus something from Checkers, I would opt for 2 larger burgers, fries, a large drink and 2 apple turnovers for less money.
I do intend to try this place again in hope of having a better experience before deciding if they will be on my list of restaurants...
Read moreLast night I was in total shock. I had a friend come from out of town, and took her to Tie Breakers for cocktails and to shoot some pool (going down town is geared more for the younger generation/college kids). I was so disappointed in the number of children running around unsupervised. Children ranging in age from 7 years old to around 12 or 13 were so rude, running around all 3 tables as if we weren't there loud and disrespectful. Slamming Q sticks on the tables, one kid trying to climb up on the table. It was so disappointing!! It seems as if this parents go in with other couples and sit around and drink while their children run wild and disrupting other patrons. Tie Breakers has fallen to the generation that lets the "amusements" within the establishment babysit while they hang out. I use to enjoy going, but these children are out of control and the staff are so young they don't know how to handle the situation. Please put a sign up in the pool table area..children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. There was another couple there when we arrived and the children pretty much ran them off. So loud and disrespectful bumping into our tables, in the way while trying to shoot, and even hitting the end of our stick while we were trying to shoot. It's just not fair to patrons who spend their money in there to enjoy food, beverage and shoot pool (and leave their children at home etc..
Anyway, thank you for your...
