Carolina Tavern — Restaurant in Greenwood

Update 8-24-2025 Met friends at Carolina Tavern in Greenwood for lunch on Sunday. Promptly seated as the rest of our guest were parking the car. Our table was serviced by Arianna. She promptly took a couple of the drink orders and had drinks to the table before the rest of our party arrived, as they were parking the horse trailer in an adjoining parking area. All of our party arrived with 5 min of us being seated. The turn around time for drinks and service was impressive. We started with cheese straws as an appetizer. While waiting for out food to arrive I noted that the table closest to us had ordered onion rings. Dang, I should have ordered some. They looked so fresh, big and tasty. As Arianna stopped buy to see if we needed anything I asked if we could get an order of onion rings added. She allowed me to order it as an appetizer but cautioned that it might not be our before our food was ready. Not sure how she managed it but minutes later the kitchen brought out hot onion rings with plenty of sauce. We had salads, burgers and wings as out meal. It was all very good. We ended up with a to go box and a couple of drink cuts as we left. This place is GREAT and Arianna goes out of her way to make sure that everything is perfect! We look forward to repeat visits!

7-20-2025 They continue to impress. Food is wonderful and consistent. The service is friendly and professional. Our server, Arianna, was absolutely perfect and always had a smile. We had several requests and she came through every time with perfection. Hope we get her again, next time.

I don’t know if I’ve ever written a google review before, but this place here lately has consistently had poor customer service and tonight was the proverbial “strike three” for me.

Pros - the wings are pretty good. Boneless or traditional, can never go wrong. I don’t really have anything good or bad to say about anything else on the menu.

Cons - the wait will always be longer than they say. Typically in my experience, whatever time they say on the phone is how long you’ll wait once you’re actually in the restaurant. For example, tonight we were told 20 - 25 minutes for 10 wings and 4 chicken tenders. Knowing the wait is longer than they say, we arrive 40 minutes later than when the order was placed. It was another 20 minutes before I was back out the door.

When you call, the person taking orders can hardly ever hear the person on the phone. I know it’s called a “tavern”, but not being able to hear customers trying to order food is a problem.

I haven’t actually sat down to eat at the place in years, but others i know have said that if you are sitting down to eat, expect about 30 - 40 minutes before you get your food, and it won’t be worth the time or money you pay for it sadly.

To make a long story full of complaints a short one, and for what it matters - I have repeatedly experienced bad service here and have had others in my life share the same opinion/experiences of this restaurant, and it has officially lost them a customer going forward. Thanks...

Well I was greeted at the door with "have you been helped?" I said no, and she replied " what do you need?" The girl who ended up being our server, whom did really well, might I add, quickly tried to make up for it. I hate to be negative, but I'm going to continue diving in. I was sat at a dirty table. ( I'm pretty sure this has always been a thing here) The condiments are just thrown wherever. Dust and food lines the cracks everywhere in that room. It needs a deep cleaning something serious. No joke. It was Sunday afternoon- so the sun was shining right in. The paint peeling off the seats. The nasty damp crumpled menues I was handed as I waited on my other guests to arrive. I order a tea and wished I hadn't. I'm a big girl , and enjoy sweet tea might I add. What y'all are making should be illegal. I ordered lemon pepper tenders and a salad. Salad was not good. Tasteless and the chicken was overcooked. I'm sorry but in being honest. I used the bathroom and of course there pee all over the seat. Y'all wasn't busy either.. I would definitely say take a bit more pride in how the restaurant looks. Someone needed to be spot sweeping. And that glass? I'm not even gonna go there. I guess this is more of a late night bar? Makes me DEFINITELY wonder what that...
