Refrigerator Update-
Mike and I ended up going to Riegelmanns Appliance because, ultimately, we wanted to shop local so our dollar is reinvested in the community.
I was a little worried about going to a small business as I was unsure I could afford them (my misconception).
I first spoke to Jim Riegelmann about what I was looking for and my reservations about the cost (I did not intend to purchase a refrigerator 15 days before Christmas). He took me over to their scratch and dent section which is exactly where I was going to purchase my appliance if I went to a big box store. I was surprised at the large selection and he went on to tell me that they purchase "Grade B" appliances all the time and they are fully factory warrantied appliances that have superficial flaws and are sold at a deep discount. This was exactly what I was looking for!
Jim went on to explain that they also repair appliances and if I ever had an issue they were a phone call away. Now, if I purchased at a big box store, the phone call would be an 800 number to who knows where.
I was then directed to chat with Mike Riegelmann (who I was there to chat with originally). I asked Mike how they compete with big box stores and he showed me that they had invested in electronic price tags for their products. The electronic price tags track the price for the same item at big retailers and edits the price in their store to match the big guys. I was in awe! Not only could I now afford a great refrigerator but I didn't have to do any of the price match work as Riegelmann's had already done it for me!
Both Jim and Mike really knew their stuff when it comes to appliances and I learned a lot by shopping local and shopping small.
I ended up purchasing a Whirlpool refrigerator like the one pictured for almost $1,000 off retail simply because it had a flaw on the side that would be covered by my cabinet anyway!
Moral of the story- I highly recommend Riegelmann's and you should always try to shop local first because you never know what...
Read moreBought my washer and dryer here 2 years ago along with the warranty... I moved and needed my washer and dryer reinstalled in my new house since the cord and plug weren’t the same. Called for the service and was first told “let me check to see if we even offer that”, so right off I felt like I was speaking with somebody uneducated about their employer and services offered, not good customer service. Finally got it scheduled and verified both brands of my machines and services needed for the service call to my new house. The technician showed up and did not have everything he needed so the job did not get completed, only half of it. He stated that he was a “technician for repairs” and that “usually it’s the delivery and install guys who have that kit in their truck.” I was then instructed to go to a hardware to pick up the kit I needed for the remainder of the job...then instructed how to do myself. I’m sorry, but what?! What is the point of asking for a service call of they don’t complete it? And what’s the point of a warranty if I’m still paying full price?! was still charged $100 just for a cord, no offer to reschedule so he can bring back the rest of the right equipment or send the right person out to my house. This was Friday last week. I spent a few hours driving to 4 different hardware stores this weekend looking for this stupid kit, never did find it. Called on Sunday to see if they could send somebody back out to finish up or if I could come buy the kit from them, he said nobody is available for that on Sunday’s because they only have 2 salesmen in. He reassured us he would get the message to someone the next day and he would get it taken care of. I still have not got a call back. My family will not be doing any new business with them...
Read moreWhen my husband and I remodeled our kitchen in 2015, I researched all brands of the appliances we would need -- refrigerator, stove top, oven. I was dismayed at how mixed the reviews were, even on Consumer Reports (I go by the readers' reviews rather than the magazine's as they reflect an appliance's performance over time). I didn't feel highly confident of any brand, so I started looking at the dealers, particularly their service records. My frustrating research suddenly became clear -- the appliance might be a lemon or a gem, but the service reviews were surprisingly consistent. Riegelmann's stood out, and after reading their reviews I knew that whichever appliances we chose, this was the place to go. We have not been disappointed.
It has been three years since the remodel, and we've had no real problems with the choices we made. I waited this long to write a review because it didn't seem to me that someone who'd owned an appliance for three days or three months and who raved about had really put that appliance to the test. In three years our appliances have performed beautifully, but in the odd case where we've had questions or concerns, Riegelmann's has worked with us, offering suggestions over the phone and prompt service should we need it.
And by the way, the appliances we chose are a Frigidaire refrigerator, a Frigidaire oven, and a Thermador stovetop. We recommend them. And...
